Both my cats are quite fussy so I wasn't sure if they would like Almo Nature dry cat food with Chicken. Not all cats like dry food and mine usually have wet cat food. So I was delighted when both my cats devoured their Almo Nature food in record time. This item is nicely packaged in a waterproof packet which can be resealed. Being food for cats I can't really comment on the taste, but going by they way my cats ate their tea they certainly gave Almo Nature Chicken cat food "paws up".

Iams is the food my [cats, not mine personally] vet recommended to me, as it isn't a irritating to their stomachs as other cat food is, so I'm much less likely to find, umm, fragrant surprises is the litter trays. However they seem to be bored with their usual food, so I opted to try this as I'd heard of the brand before. I'm pleased to report that the cats all eat this without complaint and none of them have suffered from upset stomachs, so paws up all around. I can't ask the cats for their opinion on this particular flavour, but as all of them, from kitten to 8 year old, all constantly nudge each other out of the way of the food dish to get at it, I'm going to call this flavour a winner.

The food doesn't smell as strongly as wet food does and it can be left out all night without becoming inedible, which is good as otherwise the fur balls would wake the house up at the crack of dawn, demanding breakfast. Finally; yay for Amazon - not only does it cost less than it does in the shops, but the packs are delivered straight to my door, so I don't have to lug the weighty packs home from a shop on the bus...

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
A bit of background: We have an 8 year old cat who is a the epitome of the feline fussy eater: we've tried her on a variety of foods over the years, having ultimately settled on a combination of Purina One (oscillating daily between chicken and salmon) coupled with a side order of Sheba `Steamed and Tender' (must be the one in gravy; she won't countenance the stuff in jelly or the terrine/pate-type wet foods). This is her preferred combo but even with this she can be ambivalent: some days she eats most of it, others she'll barely touch it. We've previously had at best mixed results with Iams and poor results with everything else - Hills, James Wellbeloved, Whiskas, Go Cat, you name it - except maybe Whiskas temptations treats, which she adores, but which aren't a viable meal, just a treat. She even turns her nose up at fresh meat and fish off our own plates! So I've grown to be exceptionally sceptical with trying her on anything new... which makes it all the more astonishing to see her reaction to Almo Nature Rouge Dry with Chicken, which I've swapped for her Purina One this week. To me, it looks and smells virtually identical - but she seems to have noticed a big difference, because thus far, she's not left a scrap each mealtime. That is unprecedented for her: seldom if ever does she eat the lot, but that's been the case with Almo Nature Rouge Dry with Chicken all week. Of course, she's a contrary soul and may well go off it next week, but as things stand I've not seen her polish off a dish of dry cat food with this much fervour before, which I'd say augurs well.Read more ›

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
A dry cat food containing some ingredients that are fit for human consumption should, in theory, be gobbled up by our three cats, particularly as they enjoy a diet that is rich in plain foods such as roast chicken and boiled fish. Two out of three were prepared to try the meal and one ate with some gusto but the third (admittedly more reserved than the others) just plain refused it.

It is a complete food and contains 55% chicken with rice, potato, peas and chicken fat the other primary ingredients. Sounds good, doesn't smell too bad and comes in a re-sealable pack. Big tick from a human perspective.

Whilst it is designed to be a complete food, my cats enjoy a mixture of wet and dry and like to pick and mix to suit their taste so we always make both available. They have grazed at this and obviously find it palatable but only in small doses. It will be added to their diet from time to time although I am not sure it will win a daily place at their table. So only a little tick with reservation from the felines.

This food says it is complete but reading teh feeding instructions, this is true only to a certain point. It states you mix a certain amount of wet food with a specified amount of dry food to achieve the daily balance. So you don't only have to buy this, but also must have some wet food on hand. This was not a problem here, as our eldest cat has urinary troubles that require us to feed him a senior wet food with a dose of vinegar added, but our younger two cats are primarily on dry only so we had to keep them on their Iams dry and feed this only to our eldest.

This food is indeed high quality and our cat has been very happy to eat it, but no more excited over it than he has been for his Iams. Cost wise, this works out slightly more expensive than his Iams, but not prohibitively so. I can see myself getting a bag of this every now and again when he gets bored with his available Iams flavour options. I can also see myself availing myself of their wet food varieties in future, seeing as the dry food has proved to be of exceptional quality and taste. These too, are on the more expensive side but with cats being finicky, the change up of flavours and textures without sacrificing quality and the ehalth of my cat, make them a very attractive option to try out in future.
