During my years as a Manchester Press Photographer, I used to cover City in their domestic and European adventures, and this book gives a good picture of the man, larger than life, both fun and scary to be with on trips to Europe. He gelled well with "uncle" Joe Mercer on the field, but not so much off it !.It brought back some good memories and is a must read for City fans and football fans in general, taking them back to an era when top class soccer was fun, both to the players, the fans and the Press guys, who were usually at the butt end of Malcolm's mischief!

What a cracking read this is. Combining hard facts with a feverish imagination, Mingle has created a gem of a read crammed full of larger than life characters and great memories of how the game used to be played. This book fairly rips along faster than Colin Bell on a mazy dribble...money well spent in my book. If you liked the Damned United, you'll love this.

Steve Mingle has come up with an interesting way of presenting the saga of Allison and Mercer. This is the best read on this subject I have come across.
