This means that it will be largely free of page markings, the spine will still be in solid, tight condition and there will be no pages which are missing from the book. The pages may have slightly turned corners but overall the book should be clean to touch and enjoyable to read.

More About the Author

My childhood ambitions were to be a writer and a missionary - I've managed to achieve one of those.

Writing is something I do instinctively - it's a wondrous process too - the fact that the marks on the page can mean something - convey information, inspire, sadden, make you laugh .. what an extraordinary thing.
My main interest is in health and complementary/alternative medicine, particularly kinesiology, which I practiced for 20 years and taught for more than 10.

Apart from writing books, I also research and develop test kits for therapists. When I'm not doing all this, I spend time going to the gym and riding my bike. My favourite type of biking is longish distances. I've ridden across the US (4200 miles) and ridden from Lands End to John O'Groats in the UK. I've also ridden my bike in lots of European countries and in India and east Africa - it's a great way to see the world, stay fit and clear the mind.

Format: Paperback
Most people would like to have a better idea of whether or not they and their family members are suffering from allergies. But most people also don't want to read through thick books on the subject that are filled with medical jargon that they don't understand.
Allergy A to Z is a good solution for those people. The book opens with several excellent essays that briefly summarize key perspectives on allergies:
What Is Allergy?
Why Do People Become Allergic?
Allergy Equals Addiction
What Symptoms Can Be the Result of Allergies?
Allergy Signs in Children
Correlations
Detecting Allergies
Correcting Allergies
Those essays are then followed by a listing of allergens, in alphabetical order, which comprise the bulk of the book. I read all of those pages because it gave me many new perspectives on allergens to watch out for. Yes, I'm one of those people who has a lot of allergies. I thought the information was great, and I found several new chemicals to watch out for that I hadn't read about before.
I also heartily recommend appendix 4 which provides information for practitioners and students.
If you don't have a book to help you deal with allergies, this book would make a good choice for you.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Ben Calder on 17 Aug. 2005
Format: Paperback
After being such a pioneer in the allergy testing and Kinesiology field it is great to see Jane add to her growing collection of books a real treat on allergies.
Very few people really understand the breadth of possibilities of what can cause and allergic reaction and how to deal with it. Jane gives a fair review of a range of methods for allergy testing along with very useful definitions of allergy and low tolerance. She gives a highly comprehensive list of what can be causing a problem and where to find it.
She also goes on to suggest ways that you can find help and how to help yourself. A must for layperson, student and practitioner alike. This book is kept easy to hand in my Complementary health practice where all the practitioner are directed to it if they need information
