The Allcam DP202 digital pen is a revolutionary human-computer interface with 26 worldwide patents. It converts normal LCD monitor into a touch screen monitor in seconds. It can be used as a handwriting input hardware for most common office software like PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, MSN etc. You can use it as a digital note taker: you write on plain paper like a normal ballpen, and the receiver will save your writings into its internal memory up to 500 A4 pages. You can download those note by connecting the receiver to your computer via USB.
The DP202 digital pen pioneered the application of the weathered eMAT technology into computer-human interfacing. Simply clip the receiver to your non-touchscreen LCD monitor (up to 19"), you instantly have a 19" virtual touch screen. The virtual touch screen is actually better than a normal touch screen, you don't even need to physically touch the monitor, the receiver can sense the pen up to 200mm away from the monitor, so you can actually move the cursor in the air! The digital pen also features mouse function, you can "click" or "right click" using your index finger and the buttons are located at where your index finger would normaly rest while writing.
Now the digital pen comes with MyScript Notes 3.0 Lite OCR text recognition, your handwriting can be converted to directly editable text documents.

I needed a digital pen to use when showing Powerpoint slides to students. I wanted something that would allow me to make handwritten marks and notes on the projected slides in a classroom. It took me a little trial and error to get the best configuration and to find the features I needed. The user manual was not very comprehensive and it took a while to realise that I needed to load the pen's software before starting Powerpoint. I then got most of the features I needed - apart from an eraser, which I eventually found in a supplementary menu at the bottom of the slide. I found it best to write on a blank sheet of paper on a clipboard with the plastic stylus (i.e. no ink) while looking at the laptop screen. This enabled me to write fairly neatly (my normal handwriting is poor) more or less exactly where I wanted to on the slide. I haven't tried the pen and receiver without the laptop or the optical character reading program as I don't think I will need them. All in all, a good digital pen giving me just what I wanted. Would have been 5 stars if the user manual had been better.

Misses the target continuously. Every time I recalibrate the pen, it is off by half a centimetre within 3 minutes. It does not read vertical lines, and misses half of the rest. Writing on paper is OK, but using on the screen is a complete waste of time.

This product is excellent for presentations and teaching and I am very pleased with it. Personally, I used it is as a pen-like mouse in order to annotate slides during presentations, solve mathematical questions on empty slides and draw/annotate diagrams during teaching. Regarding the other things that this digital pen promises, I have to say that the results are not that great. When using it for touchscreen annotation or general touchscreen use it misses the target by very few mm's despite any calibration effort. I haven't use it for taking notes on a paper and then loading them on the PC and do a handwriting recognition, but I guess that the results will not be great either. Anyway, I do recommend this product especially to anyone in the teaching sector.

This is a fun thing and the handwriting recognition is amzingly good. I have two gripes, though. As it is it cannot be secoured to the screen of a desktop computer (it can to a laptop) and we had to use a clamp to do it and then we could use the pen to touch the screen. Also the area you can write on for handwriting recognition is small. But everypne I have shown it to has enjoyed using it,

This pen does everything it says and more. It turns your screen into a touch screen, you can write in almost any application. The only down side is it sometimes "misses" the target.

This is very useful to have as a gadget but I find it hard to get used to without an instruction booklet it is more difficult to use with office documents. As a pure whiteboard tool though, it is very effective.
