5.0 out of 5 stars a very moving book. Its nice to dip into when feeling low., 20 Nov 2001
By akelaanne@hotmail.com (London England) - See all my reviews
I heard this book reviewed on Don Maclean's radio show. Having a bereavement of a very close family member, I was hoping it would help others in my family to cope. I couldn't put the book down, so much of her feelings were mine. The prayers, poems were lovely to read, and Joan has had a lot of grief in such a short time. It is great for dipping into when feeling low and picking bits out. It will be my constant companion for the time being.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful and insightful book on bereavement, 14 Nov 2001
By plunketts@bigfoot.com (London, England) - See all my reviews
Joan Wilson suffered the loss of her daughter in an infamous bomb explosion on Remberence Day in Enniskillen Northern Ireland in 1987, her only son in a road accident a few years later and finally the death of her husband (the peace campaigner Senator Gordon Wilson) by a heart attack a few years after that. She explores the spiritual dimension of her life, and offers useful insights into managing grief and coping with it. Many of her favourite poems, hymns and Bible verses are included. A profound faith in Christianity has helped to sustain her, but the attraction of this book is that it can be read by people of all faiths who are seeking a path through the darkness that grief causes. A very moving account of a outstanding woman whose search for an answer to why this should occur to her gives strength and encouragement to all who are in the same situation.
