This record contains three songs of Harcourt's, of which the title track is from his latest album, "From Every Sphere". This song has a mostly light mood, is a bit uptempo and has a refrain with a beat that makes you nod. It is an elaborate and energizing tune with a hook, and I like it. This may turn out to be the kind of song I get tired of after some time, though.
I like nest song, "Coal Black Heart", better, which also has an elaborate structure with an immediate refrain, but overall has a more modest low-key sound. It is a bit 60's flavoured in the same way as Elliott Smith on his "Figure 8" album. If you have "From Every Sphere", you still may want this single for this track. The third song, "Blackwoods Back Home", has an odd sound (Is it an xylophone?) and Harcourt sings a bit rougher. It is an interesting and enjoyable piece of pop music, but not the best song here.
The single also contains a video, which I did not make my PC play. This should probably not be held against the single, since I am notoriously incompetent with computers. Anyway I just want the music, so this does not bother me.
If you never listened to Harcourt's music this may be a good start, but it is better still to buy either of his albums.
