5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better than the First.... 22 April 2003
Format:Audio CD
All You Wanted is Michelle Branch's second single from her first commercial album - The Spirit Room, and with it, raises the bar after her impressive debut single - Everywhere. What is refreshing for a new artist of such young age (19), is her maturity - a "young artist with old soul"!. Carefully avoiding the stereotypes that often befit the average female popstar, Branch puts music first rather than image which dominates the music scene at the moment.
'All You Wanted' would probably be best categorised as a mixture of pop and rock, and with it she provides an immediately catchy but immediately interesting, deep, compelling single. . Branch's vocals, the instrumentation, lyrics, progression, etc.- is done with amazing precision and done very well.
Unlike much of the charts conjested of manufactured pop, she offers plenty for fans of the genre to get their teeth into.
Certainly one to watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Michelle at Her Best 13 July 2002
Format:Audio CD
If you heard 'Everywhere' and dismissed Michelle Branch as being too 'pop', then this, the second single from 'The Spirit Room', should be more to your liking. A much better reflection of the sound of the album, 'All You Wanted' is posssibly only topped by what I believe to be the next single, 'Goodbye to You'.

5.0 out of 5 stars All I want is for this to be no.1! 29 Jun 2002
Format:Audio CD
Michelle has a really original voice, and is amazingly talanted! She Sings, Wrights and produces music! This song has really good lyrics that'll stick in your head for ages! It also has a totally Wicked-cool tune to match her voice and lyrics! This song only has one down fall: it's very hard to work out is it's a love song or not, because in the beginning she sings 'I wanted to be like you, so I tried to be like you but I got sweped away.' so she could be singing about a woman, but, in the video it's a guy she's singing to!
Whatever it is it rocks! If you like a good rock song (For once in the past two or more years, with the exception of Everywhere by the same artist) or your just tired of a blonde singer complaining that she's 'A slave 4 U' or 'not a girl, not yet a woman (what is she? a boy?)' or that she's 'overprotected' or just singing about 'boys' then, BUY THIS SINGLE!

5.0 out of 5 stars best song ever 14 Dec 2004
By Andrew - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
first i would like to say that people like Mr. Eric Smith be shot for saying that crap about Michelle Branch and her music.
The current pop princesses like Britney Spears who mostly have a sex, dance based theme and who have other people write there own music. Quoting Evanescence from "Everybody's Fool" the princesses think they are"Perfect by nature, icons of self-indulgience" meaning that perfect is what they look like. Michelle doesn't act at all like that, also Michelle writes her own music, then plays them and has more of a relationship theme going on in 'The Spirit Room' which everyone of use can relate to in some way. If you think about it, like Michelle says "and all you wanted is somebody who cares" is what all of use want, someone who cares about us and someone that we can relate too. [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome song...... 23 Jun 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Unlike some people, I think Michelle is brillent. She was the first of the young, more main stream singer/songwriters. She was before Avril or Vanessa, and never gets the credit she deserves. AYW may not be the most profound thing I've ever heard, but you have to realized she was 17 when The Spirit Room came out and was probably only 16 1/2 when she wrote AYW, so give her a chance and if you didn't like her older stuff, definatly check out her new CD Hotel Paper, it's much more mature, and has songs that are even better then AYW.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional Depth 20 July 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Below, this song is criticized for its simple, unintellectual nature. I consider myself to be an intellectual, and I am displeased by many recent artists whose work seems to contain little or no substance. However, I do not consider Michelle Branch to be in this category, specifically in the case of this song. "All You Wanted" has an emotional depth to it that the works of other artists appear to lack. As opposed to the works of many other artists, where so-called love songs often degenerate to little more than displays of lust, the speaker in this song has come to know the object of her affection well enough to see his loneliness and insecurity. However, in spite of these problems, the speaker still loves this person, perhaps even more so because of them. The depths of true affection seem to shine through her words. I consider this song to be among the best from today's artists. Five stars.

If you want to/I can take you away from this place/So lonely inside/So busy out there/And all you wanted was someone who cares...

I'm sinking slowly/So hurry, hold me/Your hand, is all I have, to keep me hangin' o-o-on/Please, Can you tell me/So I can finally see-ee, where you go when you're go-one...

If you want to/I can take you away from this place/So lonely inside/So busy out there/And all you wanted was someone who cares...

All you wanted was somebody, who cares/If you need me, you know I'll be there-here-here/Ho-woah, wo-oh-woah/

If you want to/I can take you away from this place/So lonely inside/So busy out there/And all you wanted was someone who cares...

Please can you tell me/So I can't finally see, where you go when you're gone...

A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The cd "All you wanted" is played on almost all of the radio stations that i listen to. It is one of the more appropriate cd's that i recognize as a good cd. This cd is a good one especially for teen girls. I would not miss out on this one!
