Biography

R.E.M. was an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, USA, in 1980 by Michael Stipe (lead vocals), Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Bill Berry (drums and percussion). R.E.M. was one of the first popular alternative rock bands, and gained early attention due to Buck's ringing, arpeggiated guitar style and Stipe's unclear vocals. R.E.M. released its first… Read more in Amazon's R.E.M. Store

The twanging guitars of 'Reno' and Stipe's rough-honey voice are put together to form a song that I wouldn't have thought have been an automatic single. But it works outside of the album quite well, the chorus and impassioned vocals still holding up. The b-sides are pretty good - Yellow River, a perky pop cover with Mike Mills singing, I think, is quite unlike anything on Reveal and revels in more Beach Boys-style production, and is an interesting jaunt. The live version of Imitation Of Life is cool, and the video from Trafalger Square is a nice addition and includes Stipe reading a passage from Martin Luther King Jr. The other b-side on the DVD (165 Hillcrest) is a pleasant instrumental that, while being quite short, is nonetheless quality. The DVD also includes the video of the single, the three members of REM returning to High School, Stipe serenading the kids to ,"You're gonna be a star!"

Go on. Get 'em both.

Out of all the Reveal album I feel this song is the best, the reasons being is it is just such a happy, jolly song, and it has a very 'summery' feel to it. personaly I feel it deserves to get into the top 10.

This is a good track, but not the best track by a long way, from R.E.M.'s latest album, Reveal. Another oversight, I fear, from the collective who released Suspicion from Up.

Its an uptempo song with a country feel and some great moments and I really wish it could make a dent in the top 10, but I doubt it. Shame.
