not a stage show 6 Nov 2008
This is as described - a documentary account of the making of the Cirque du Soleil LOVE show in Las Vegas. To expect a complete performance of the stage show would be asking too much. The show, like any other designed for the stage has to be seen..er...on the stage.
We've all heard criticism of the soundtrack album and about how the sacred work shouldn't be played around with - BUT don't forget, it's a soundtrack to a show, just as this film is a documentary about the way that the show came to life.
One thing that comes over in the film, as in the show, is the care in portraying the main players (ie the Beatles) as having a great collective sense of humour. Something easy to forget all these years later.
Having seen the show twice now, I feel that it would be impossible to capture effectively on film and that, for the money, this documentary is a great little taster, costing a fraction of the ticket price.
Only criticism I'd make of the whole enterprise is that it could, perhaps, have done with some input from Cynthia and Pattie as well as Yoko and Olivier.
I'd recommend it for what it is and, having enjoyed watching it, hope to see the show again when finances allow!

By Ms. M. Potter TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Just as it says on the front cover this is a documentary. And it is not a documentary about the Beatles. It is a film about the making of the show Cirque Du Soleil which is based on music by the Beatles.
If you are interested in seeing the show, or better still if you have seen the show then this film is very useful and informative. And it is also interesting as a documentary in its own right. The documentary shows us how the concept and design of the show came about. It also shows us the build up to the debut of the show. There is obvious information about the music and the unique mix arranged for the show.
However I felt that I only wanted to see it once. I cannot see much point in watching it again. And in that respect having it as a DVD had a limited life span. I wish it had been on TV.
The best thing about this project is the music, and the audio mix album on CD is a much superior product.
Generally the documentary is ok but not fabulous.

Let It Be 2! 13 Oct 2008
I was fortunate to see this film when it was screened in Liverpool back in may 2008.
It is basically another Let It Be, which is not a bad thing, and it's great to see The Beatles back on the big screen.
It's also in memory of the late Neil Aspinall.

The film deals with the Las Vegas show, 'Love', performed by the Cirque De Solei (hope I've spelt that right), it's begginings, right up to the night it opens!
The film also see's the making of the album 'Love' which was mixed by George Martin and his son Giles. This all goes into great detail if how the whole show and album work and also the problems that came with it.

It feels very much like a sequel to the previous Beatles films, where when we last saw The Beatles on the big screen was Let It Be, and nearly forty years later, the next chapter arrives - without John and George, but with Yoko and Olivia observing the whole production!

We see many great clips of the fab four during the sixties, and up to date interviews and great clips of Paul and Ringo talking about the show and the past, and turning up for rehearsals which scare the hell out of Cirque, and are some of the best scenes of the piece.

If you enjoyed any of The Beatles films and Let It Be in particular then you will really enjoy this film.
