5.0 out of 5 stars Trustworthy arrangements 8 Sep 2008
By Shaun - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a great series, one of the best I've seen. These arrangements sound good, are easy to learn (for advanced players), and are in the "common" fake book keys. There is room to add your own ideas and you can play these with other musicians who are using fake books. I have played so many of the "Look at what I can do" variety of arrangements and find these better for gigs. If these arangements are too dry and bare bones, then you must be a seasoned jazz player who should be doing your own arrangements.

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic Arrangements 10 Mar 2012
By M. D. Bell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
OK for your first book on chord melody; good choice of songs. The arrangements are just not that adventurous, but the emphasis here
is accessibility for all skill levels, and in that it succeeds. Easy to learn - no lyrics - standard notation and tab.

3.0 out of 5 stars All-Time Boring 14 May 2007
By Long time guitarist - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Was lured into purchasing three of this series of books by ads proclaiming they are the best chord melody books ever. Not so.

The arrangements are dry, unimaginative and bare bones. Suppose they figure they're doing one a favor by charting out the melody with some chords thrown in. Boring. Also suppose they're assuming the player will use the arrangements as a base from which to add enhancements. Whatever.

Look elsewhere for better arrangements, specifically Barry Galbraith, Bill Pilburn and the Jazz Guitar Standards: Chord Melody Solos from Mel Bay\Warner Bros.
