Biography

Anna Mae Bullock was born in Tennessee, but moved to St. Louis as a teenager. There she met rock and roll performer Ike Turner and persuaded him to let her join his backing vocalists. Eventually Anna impressed Ike so much that he gave her equal-billing, and the new name "Tina". They became the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, and married in 1962. Through the 60s they forged a reputation as ... Read more in Amazon's Tina Turner Store

It must be a hard job putting together a greatest hits album of a career that spans 5 (!!!) decades. Most of the songs on this compilation have been hits in Europe. Besides that the album also contains 3 new recordings including her current European hit single "Open Arms". The highlight on the album is for me the new track "Something Special". The album also includes a (different) version of Tina's song "Great Spirits" which she recorded for the soundtrack of "Brother bear" last year.
No 5 stars because the booklet is terrible, no liner notes, no background info about the songs, no discography...shame on you, EMI !!! and because they did not include the original Ike and Tina version of "Proud Mary".

Hard to sum up a long and successful career in just 33 tracks, including 3 brand new tracks. But this album goes a long way to doing so. I love it! There is something for everyone on this double album. Everybody loves at least one Tina Turner song, it's a fact. The new single, Open Arms, is here, as well as the *fingers crossed* hopefully-to-be second single, the burst of energy that is Complicated Disaster. From rock, pop, ballads and everything inbetween, you will without a doubt, find something to keep you entertained on this double album greatest hits.
Do not hesitate, buy this now - it's your duty to music!

I absolutely adore Tina and all her albums (with the exception of 24/7). This compilation of hits is very impressive. It's well done and the songs are well chosen. The old, older and new songs follow eachother perfectly. Tina's music has certainly withstood the test of time. But, for me, there are two downsides. Why isn't Whatever You Want, Break Every Rule and One of the living on the album?? And the Booklet is one of the worst i've seen. Although the pictures are nice, i would've liked some information on the songs, or a biography, or discograpy, a little word to the fans, SOMETHING. These are the only reasons I'm not giving this album 5 stars.

I thought to get this as its a greatest hits. However it was not quite what I was expecting in a way. I did not like the way the tracks seemed to jump around in era's. Plus on two disks made it rather long to listen too. Maybe you would say its my own fault in the beauty of downloads to an MP3 player. However I am an old bird with an cd habbit. Think another purchase of Tinas maybe needed but I shall review more carefully before purchase.

All the good stuff from Tina, across the years. From the early ones like River Deep Mountain High which still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up to Something Special from 2004. She is such a great singer.
I paid for this CD with my own money. This is money on which I paid tax. I haven't avoided paying my FAIR SHARE of UK tax. Does Amazon pay it's fair share of tax like me???

The 2004 compilation `All The Best' is a more career spanning compilation than it's predecessor 'Simply The Best'. Although not covering any `Ike & Tina Turner' songs except for `Nutbush City Limits' in which the original recording appears and Proud Mary, which interestingly enough the 1993 Soundtrack Version appears. Also of course the Classic `River Deep, Mountain High', which no Tina Turner Compilation would be complete without. Also features on `Tina Live In Europe', which contains a Live Recording of the song, which I urge you to check out. The new songs are great contemporary pop tunes, however we also see amore laid back Tina with new cuts such as Something Special and Great Spirits from Disney's Brother Bear Soundtrack. Open Arms was the single from the album, it was nice to see Tina back in the charts and on Television for awhile. The song `Complicated Disaster' is such a great track, as Tina says in the DVD Interview on `All The Best: The Live Collection' DVD (which should also be checked out) Tina says it sounds very `now' and is current. It is definitely a stand out track among the new recordings.
The artwork is especially classy featuring a beautiful Tina Turner `as always' in a gorgeous setting, with lovely sunset lighting, she looks relaxed and happy and still a symbol of Courage, Talent and Survival. This album features her most important hits spanning from the 1960's to the mid 2000's, which is truly amazing! We get some previously unavailable on a Tina Turner record songs, such as studio versions of `Tonight with David Bowie' and `It's Only Love With Bryan Adams', however we still don't have `One Of The Living' from the Mad Max Soundtrack here. They all compliment and work well together as the old and new are intertwined within each other and still sound fresh, vibrant but also raw with Tina Turner's amazing voice. Proving that Tina Turner's Music Is Timeless.

Just got the new cd set today!
A great collection of songs from the great lady herself!
All the classics are here in this collection, from the 1966 River Deep-Mountain High, Nutbush City Limits in 1973 and on to the classics of her mega solo status. Her re-recorded version of Proud Mary from the "Whats Love" soundtrack is excellent, a true foot stomper. Speaking of soundtracks, We Dont Need Another Hero, Great Spirits and I Dont Wanna Fight are also included.
Some slightly rarer tracks get a mention to, her 84 duet with David Bowie on Tonight and her duet with Eros are featured on disc 2.
The three new tracks, Open Arms, Complicated Disaster and Something Special are all very good, I heard sample of these tracks before the cd was released, and now that I have heard the tracks in full they are certainly up there with the rest of them. Something Special is sung with such feeling, good on ya Tina!
Worth having in anyone's collection!
