I have never read an Ilana Fox book before but I was intrigued by this. It seemed like it would be a light hearted read. I must admit, the cover doesn't do a lot for me. I don't think it needs the handbag necklace and if I had picked this up in a shop, I wouldn't have bought it based on the cover.
The story fouses on Ella Riding, a footballer's wife. Married to Danny Riding, Kingston United and England star. But all is not what it seems. When she becomes drawn to Johnny, a TV star, the story really begins.
This book had it all - glamour, blackmail, twists, revenge, affairs. So why didn't I like it?
Well first of all the book is badly written. It felt clunky and forced. In a book like this things need to feel natural and they didn't for me. Things were rushed, especially with Johnny and Ella.
I didn't like any of the characters. They all had flaws and the majority were extremely selfish. Ella, quite frankly, got on my nerves. Who jumps into bed with someone after knowing them five minutes?
Towards the end I could see what was coming and I found myself getting bored. It didn't hold my attention until the end.
I wouldn't rush to read another book by this author. A disappointment.
