5.0 out of 5 stars The best book I've ever read about a beard 8 Jun 2012
By Gadgie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's been a while since I've indulged in any chick lit (normally these days preferring to read novels that make me look all intelligent on the tube) but having had the author's work come highly recommended, I thought I'd give this one a go. And what a great decision that was... It's a brilliantly written, fun read which should certainly make everyone's summer holiday Kindle reading list. Both girls and guys. Given the author's ties to the tabloid press, I'd love to know who some of these characters were based on...

Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Brilliant Ilana Fox Novel 16 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I first heard of Ilana Fox when she'd just released her first novel Spotlight. I was only semi interested, because I'm not that big on the whole celebrity thing. Nonetheless I entered a competition on NovelKicks.co.uk to win a copy of the book, and won - wow! I got the book, but didn't read it for a while.

When I finally got round to, I absolutely loved it. Celebrity lifestyle and all. Somehow I missed the release of The Making of Mia, so haven't read that, but then I heard about All That Glitters and knew I couldn't miss that - especially as I was going to the book launch party ;-)

I totally loved All That Glitters too. I think the reason I liked them both so much is that the main characters are so realistic, and they're just normal people like me and you (presuming you're normal, ha). Although Ella is leading this amazing WAG lifestyle, she's just a normal girl from a normal family who happened to meet a rich, premiership football player and marry him.

I thought the novel was going to be a little predictable, but it surprised me, which was great.

I'd throughly recommend All That Glitters, and I'm totally going to get hold of The Making of Mia and read that too!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy plane/beach read 7 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Witty, fun chick lit. It's perfect if you are on a sunny beach or on your way to Vegas with a crew of trouble makers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic read 12 Jan 2013
By ShaunOK TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was my final read of 2012 and one of my favourites of last year.

Footballers Wives was one of my favourite shows so the synopsis for this book immediately made me want to read it and I was full of hope that the book would be good, it wasn't, it was amazing. Ilana Fox is a fantastic author and I can't wait to check out her other work. However I think it'll be hard to beat this book.

Ella Aldridge marries Danny Riding and they appear to have the perfect marriage, and they do in every way apart from one, the sex. I thought both characters were great but Ella especially. Unlike a lot of chick lit characters she actually seemed to have something about her and wasn't the usual ditzy character getting herself into all sorts of accidents and trouble throughout the book. This book certainly isn't as 'chick-litty' as most chick lit books.

The rest of the characters are also a great mix and just the sort of people you could imagine seeing on Footballers Wives. I loved the character of Johnny and hated the character of Sanchez(?) something like that anyway aka the English Perez Hilton. I also loved Chastity who was another great character. Although parts of the story were obvious there were still plenty of shocks that I didn't see coming.

Ilana has a fantastic writing style and I found it so hard to put this book down that it only took me a few hours to read, always the sign of a good book. I cannot recommend this book highly enough and if you were ever a fan of Footballers Wives then you will love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun and Glittery read! 3 Oct 2012
By Chloe S "Chick Lit Chloe" TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Ella Aldridge landed on her feet when she married footballer Danny Riding. Many of the club's fans have accepted her into the fold, and Ella is slowly trying to make friends with her fellow WAGs, although a small part of feel like she doesn't quite fit in. However, Ella and Danny are both hiding a big secret that threatens to ruin everything they've built up together. When Ella meets television presenter Johnny Cooper, she feels a spark between them that she can't ignore, and is totally unsure what to do. When things suddenly start falling apart for Ella, she is struck by how much she values her life, and how she's going to get herself out of this big dilemma...

I really did love this book. It's an easy to read, and enjoyable story that I found myself whizzing through really quickly. It had a cast of very likeable characters and it all comes together to create a great story that I thoroughly loved reading. Ella is the perfect heroine for the book. I had fully expected to dislike her because she's a WAG but when you read the book, you realise she's not a stereotypical WAG at all, in fact quite the opposite and I loved her, there is nothing to dislike, even when she starts having feelings for bad boy Johnny! We've all been there and had feelings for the bad boy, the one we know isn't good for us but can't quite help ourselves from going there anyway! What Ella does isn't right but somehow I didn't hold it against her, and felt sorry for her as the story progressed. She's a very realistic character and I loved her.

The secret that Danny and Ella have together wasn't something I guessed, and I'm pleased that Fox has chosen something like this within this book - it's an important thing to cover, and I liked how it progressed as the book went on, and I liked the resolution of it.
