After reading Kilroy's Tenderwire, I was encouraged to read her debut. Although our heroine, Anna, is terribly distraught and persecuted throughout, and it could have benefited from a firmer edit, Kilroy's talent is clearly showcased, and I could see why a publishing house with as high literary standards as Faber and Faber recognised what I feel will be a growing, and potentially remarkable, talent. Read this, and Tenderwire, and when she wins the Booker you can be smug!
