This is not Superman for simpletons. If you can't get your head around variant readings of characters, or you're simply too caught up in unfounded fan-boy preconceptions of what 'such and such' hero 'should be like' then maybe this isn't for you.
If, however, you enjoyed 'Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow by the stellar Alan Moore, and are looking for something complimentary for your viewing pleasure, then this is one sci-fi yarn I would heartily recommend.
Yes, it's whacky! But what Morrison (and ultimately McDuffie, RIP) managed to do is distill the 'essence' of Superman in all its ridiculous, heroic, inspiring beauty, and give us one heck of a yarn, to boot.
An excellent take which sticks closely to its source material. Approach with an open mind and you shouldn't be disappointed.
