Product Description

A mad-cap, laugh-out-loud roller coaster of a ride through the life of an actress/soapstar, with an unexpectedly tender sting in the tail. (Marian Keyes)

All She Wants is utterly original, sharply written and very funny. I laughed, and then I laughed. And then I had to go back and re-read the bits that I'd missed and laugh some more. (Jojo Moyes)

Such a sustained tour de force. Jodie is a brilliant character - so much comedy and heart, moving seamlessly from farce to drama. (Graham Norton)

If Harvey is the Scouse Proust, then this is his remembrance of things p****d. (Caitlin Moran)

Brilliantly observed, gloriously funny, and brimming with warmth . . . Everything I love about Jonathan's writing is in this book! (Katherine Kelly)

Laugh out loud funny, exciting and outrageous in equal measure. All She Wants is #amazeballs! (Antony Cotton)

A hugely enjoyable debut novel featuring a heroine full of faults that you love her all the more for. (Kathy Burke)

Gimme Gimme Gimme Jonathan Harvey on holiday, on the train, on the sofa, but mainly in bed. I laughed and laughed, had shocked face, then laughed again until I fell out. (Frances Barber)

Charming, Cheeky and Clever. Exactly what I expected from my friend Jonathan. Read it! (Jennie McAlpine)

A hilarious gem of a debut novel . . . you'll be rooting for Jodie's unique charms within the first few sentences and be rooting for her from thereon in. (Heat)

A novel of dizzy highs, emotive lows and comic interludes. (Daily Express)

He's the guy who writes for Coronation Street. It's a comedy about a girl from Liverpool who becomes a soap star. She lives in London and the story follows her meltdowns. It all rings true to me and has had me laughing out loud. He's such a good writer and I highly recommend it. (Melanie Sykes Daily Mirror)

Product Description

What happens when the girl next door becomes ‘that girl off the telly’?

‘Laugh out loud’ Marian Keyes

‘Hugely Enjoyable’ Kathy Burke

There are some things in life you can always rely on. Living in the shadow of your ‘perfect’ brother Joey, getting the flu over Christmas, and your Mother showing you up in the supermarket.

Then there are some things you really don’t count on happening: a good dose of fame, getting completely trashed at an awards ceremony, and catching your fella doing something unmentionable on your wedding day.

This is my story, it’s dead tragic. You have been warned . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!! 10 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
All She Wants is the first book I have read by Jonathan Harvey and I have to tell you I was not disappointed! This book is literally filled with laugh out loud moments so beware of people giving you strange looks if reading this in public!!

The book follows the life of the main character Jodie McGee, a normal girl from a 'normal' family. When her mother takes her and her brother on a 'trip' during the school holidays, to camp outside the studios where Acacia Avenue is filmed Jodie is far from pleased, after all the studios are a mere bus ride away and whilst her class mates go on holiday her mother takes her there! However when she is met at the gates by a famous actress in Acacia Avenue, she is hooked and soon declares that when she grows up she will join the cast of Acacia Avenue.

In the meantime life doesn't exactly go as planned for Jodie. She meets the love of her life at school and they go on to get married, but all is not well and I was literally shocked at the following events that took place!

There are many twists and turns in Jodie's life before her eventual rise to fame and some of the scenarios are quite cringey, but equally hilarious! I couldn't help but feel for this character and I did feel myself really wanting things to finally go her way and for her to be happy.

This book was brilliantly written with comedy in all the right places. I have never laughed so much when reading a book!!

If you are looking for a book to cheer you up and totally lift your spirits then this is definitely the book for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it from start to finish 5 Nov 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A completely hysterical laugh out loud story that will strike a chord with anyone who has woken up in terror at what they may have said or done the night before, if only they were able to remember. The tenderness in the final part of the book illustrates just what a fine writer Harvey is. I can't wait for his next novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars All that we want 8 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
All she wants is all I wanted! The previous book I had been reading was quite dark and serious and I needed something lighthearted and easy to read, this book is exactly that. Its hilarious and has you laughing out loud and I have already recommended it to a friend. I cannot believe the author is male as hes captured a females characteristics perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining read! 19 Aug 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a big fan of Jonathan Harvey's previous work, so I knew that this book would hit the spot for me!

The story revolves around Jodie McGee, her family life and relationships and how they affect her eventual rise to her dream; of being an actress in Acacia Avenue, her favourite soap. There are many twists and turns in Jodie's life story and despite her constant bad decisions, you really feel want her to succeed in life. There are many subtle comedy references, as you'd expect from Harvey which help to make the book a really entertaining read.

All ends well, although not as you'd expect, giving the reader a satisfactory ending to this feel good story.

5.0 out of 5 stars great fun! 5 Nov 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Loved the book, and also his second one, this one made me laugh, I love the way he intermingles serious, difficult issues with humour, very Liverpudlian.
Keep writing Jonathan, you have a natural talent xx

This was light, frothy, entertaining chick lit. The kind of thing that doesn't require much attention but is none the less fine for a few hours of easy reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 4 Sep 2012
I have read many heavy going books lately and I wanted something a little lighter for my holiday and boy did I get it!!

This book is hilarious, I loved ALL of the characters and the format made it more interesting to read.

I actually got to the point where I could not read it before bed because I would be giggling whilst trying to go to sleep!

The reason that I did not give it 5 stars was that it was slightly predictable at times but nevertheless, a great read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Marian or Kathy 5 Oct 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this, tempted by the likes of Marian Keyes and Kathy Letts proclaiming it hilarious.
It's quite amusing and readable but certainly doesn't hit the brilliant heights of the likes of Marian or Kathy. It just doesn't quite hit that spot of deep down honest real experience. (Check out the opening sequence in Mad Cows (Shopping for prunes in Harrods, after giving birth) - Kathy, or the hairdresser scene in Rachel's Holiday -Marian)
I can't help suspecting this is a classic case of a man thinking he'll have a go at chic lit, cos hey, how hard can it be? Girls write this stuff.

I liked it. I was looking forward reading it. I wasn't expecting anything heavy and that's what I got. Light chick flick. It didn't make me laugh out hard but it was pleasant read.
