80s pop at its finest 12 July 2011
Format:Audio CD
'All Right Now' really captures the highlights of the best work of Pepsi & Shirlie, and is a great reminder of all the great songs they gave us.

Originally this was released as a 9-track album in the UK in the autumn of 1987. All these 9 tracks are here, complete with 8 additional tracks - 4 remixes/alternate versions, 3 B-sides and 1 previously unreleased song. The only negative is that their 1991 single "Someday" has not been included, as well as the extended versions of "All Right Now" and "High Time".

The songs that are on here are of superb quality. 80s pop has never sounded better. It makes you wonder what could have been if the group had not split up. The singles "Heartache", "Goodbye Stranger", "Can't Give Me Love", "All Right Now" and "High Time" being the most catchy and most commercial songs. This is one of the few albums I can truly say have no filler tracks, every song is a joy to listen to and has a feel-good factor all the way through. My personal favourites from this album except the singles are "Crime Of Passion" and "Surrender". It is almost a crime they were never promoted as singles, they are that good. In addition to this you get the S/A/W-penned previously unreleased "Who's Gonna Catch You (When You Fall)?" (also recorded by Sinitta and Mel & Kim), which is almost worth the price for this CD alone.

This album was sadly not a big success chart-wise in the UK. However listening to these songs you realise how underrated this group were. Maybe it was just the time and place...

I would recommend `All Right Now` to any serious pop music fan, although they were not around for long they did write music history and will always be remembered for their pop brilliance.

i had this album on vinyl back in the 80s and only a few months ago did i upgrade to a cd version of the album courtesy of amazon market place, before this re-issue was available. the tunes are still enjoyable and have not dated like i had feared they may have. so if you liked pepsi and shirlie back in the 80s i think you'll still enjoy now.

i did hesitate for a bit before buying the re-issue so soon after buying the original cd but its a fair price (specially if you don't already own the original version on cd already!)

first off, two of the original tracks have been replaced - the album versions of Hightime and All Right Now have been replaced with the single versions. good stuff. there are also various b-sides and extended versions which i dont think have been available on cd format before. good stuff again! i was also intrigued by the previously unreleased "who's gonna catch you" and when i played it i recognised it straight away as being the same song that sinitta sung way back when. not a great song to be honest, a typical SAW song which in my opinion doesnt really fit in with the style of the rest of the album. all the same its nice that cherry pop were able to include something that had never been released before.

if i have one gripe its that this album could really have been better served as a 2 disc set (like rick astleys first two albums have recently). i would LOVED to have seen the original 12" version of Heartache (as issued on the original 12" vinyl single) instead of the dot and daisy's club mix. and also the 12" versions of All Right Now and Hightime would have been worthy of inclusion too. ive only got ropey versions of these 3 songs on mp3 and it looks like i'll have to make do with them for a bit longer!

but thanks to a the help of cherry pop with this re-issue and a bit tinkering with itunes ive managed to make up my own "special expanded edition" 2 disc set of All Right Now to include the missing 12" versions, and a few odds and ends as well!

The highlight of this album is Who's gonna catch you when you fall. It it also one of the great songs on the album FLM (by Mel and Kim).
As a song I especially like the CATCH YOU,CATCH YOU,CATCH YOU,WHEN YOU FALL sung in harmony at the end of each chorus. Pepsi and Shirlie should have released this song as a single.
This album also has an extended version so a big thumbs up to that.
