Been a fan of Haven for some time. Also been a fan of Embrace for years. Now, this year Embrace suddenly gained huge fame with their new album and Gravity, but this is way way better. Id say for me that the latest Embrace is perhaps their weakest, while this is just beautiful. Track 4 is just one of those tunes I keep coming back to, after a hard day at work, whack that tune on in the car and im relaxed and singing along before the first roundabout.
If your thinking about it, don't, just buy it. It's really that good. Also loving Kasabian and Keane, if you like either you'll like this, Haven sit firmly between the two for 'rockiness'

Having been a long time fan of Haven, I have been waiting to hear thisalbum for some time.
Having spent the weekend with it almost onconstant play, I have to admit that I am a bit disapointed.
I had heard rumours that the new album was going to capture some of theintensity of their live shows
(Having seen them in Brighton and having tickets for the upcomingPortsmouth gigs, I can vouch for their superb raw emotional energylive).
Sadly the album does not capture this. Briggs singing seems veryrestrained and the production is too polished. Also, strangley missing isthe single Tell me. It is only towards the end that the album seems topick up.
Not a bad album by any means, but an oportunity missed by Haven toestablish themselves as one of Britains up and coming bands

Excellent. Not overly original a sound , which is possibly why they've not made it bigger, but nonetheless a collection of great songs, all catchy, all memorable. Production quality high, courtesy of Johnny Marr of The Smiths, although recently saw them live in Nottingham and they were outstanding - the vocalist/rhythm guitarist was brilliant, and the band were obviously well-practised, giving a solid, tight performance. This album is an interesting one given the current trend for bands with a harsher sound, a la Datsuns, the strokes, franz ferdinand etc. Along with the likes of Nada Surf, this band deserve enormous success, and more recognition for their song-writing talent and accomplished sound. Highly recommended.

I have recently bought the new Haven album and I am really impressed with it. It starts with a beautiful, melodic tune that is likely to wake anyone up! It carries on in this pattern through the nest two songs, pausing with a gentle yet powerful ballad in Track Five. With guitars that sound so fresh in the tunes, bittersweet lyrics and the fine line between pop and indie this band have a bright future. The rest of the album I will leave you to listen too. Let's just say, this is a band with so much talent that it is quite disturbing that they are not up their with the rest. They are unsung heroes and it is about time they get the recognition they deserve.
