When asked what he does, Robert Fulghum usually replies that he is a philosopher, and explains that what he likes to do is to think about everyday things and then to express what he thinks by writing, speaking or painting.
'All I Really Need To Know' is a collection of his favourite observations, written over the years, that reveal simple truths about small lives with big meanings. Like the things he learned in the sandpit at Sunday School: share everything; play fair; don't hit people; put things back where you found them; clean up your own mess; say you're sorry when you hurt somebody, and so on.
His uncommon thoughts on common things hold true, clear and firm however complicated or sophisticated the situation – and they are bound to raise the spirits and to warm the heart.
A number one best-seller in the United States, 'All I Really Need To know' has established itself as a modern classic. Written with wit and insight that is striking in its freshness and simplicity, it cannot fail to move everyone who reads it – leaving them wiser, gentler and feeling good.
"A treasure box."

By joining him on literary journeys that will take you from the Solomon Islands to Angola, the British Museum to his own front room (and even into the minds of babes), you cannot help but unite with the remarkable Robert Fulgham as he laughs and cries with the rest of humanity.
From hilariously funny to touchingly poignant, this book of anecdotes is a must for everyone. No on can fail to be moved or affected by it and, with something for every mood, it is a must-have book. You will want to pick it up again and again. You'll be glad you made the investment!
I wouldn't recommend the book, but its a quick and pleasant read should you wish to buy it.
Robert Fulghum knows how to pull your heart stings but without being too emotional. His observations on the smallest things in life are written in a way that even the coldest of us will feel touched.
I do not believe it has been written as a philosophy book but as one to make us realise what a wonderful world we really live in.
That is, if we are creative enough to open our eyes and our hearts.
