Product Description

Product Description

Puscifer, the eclectic electro-rock outfit helmed by Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle), reimagine the entire concept of a remix album with All Re-Mixed Up, a track-by-track reimagining of the band's sophomore release Conditions of My Parole. Re-mixers include a wide range of artists from the rump-loving Sir Mix-A-Lot, 4AD alumni John Fryer (This Mortal Coil), to heavy music stalwarts Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age) and PALMS (Deftones/ISIS) alongside core Puscifer members Mat Mitchell, Carina Round and The Beta Machine (Jeff Friedl and Matt McJunkins). "All Re-Mixed Up is the continuation of the Puscifer tradition to release alternate versions, reworks and remixes of what we consider initial thoughts," explains Keenan and he went on to explain that he and co-producer Mat Mitchell asked the invited remixers to imagine the original versions as songs half written and to "write the other half."

Great little remix album to listen to. no complaints here.
It's always nice to hear variations of the original songs and these are fun to hear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some great new mixes 29 Aug 2013

My wife and I always buy the new Puscifer album when it comes out, because we love this band. We've seen them 4 times in concert, and they are just fantastic. The V remix album was kind of meh since we aren't big into techno, but this time around they were more along the lines of what we like. Music taste is all just a matter of opinion anyway, but we're happy we bought the album. Highlights include Green Valley, Toma and Conditions of My Parole. Seriously awesome versions of those songs. I didn't care much for the original version of Toma, but this remix is insane. There are still a few songs on here that just seem redundant, but that's usually what you get when you do a mix with electronica. Our favorite Puscifer album is still C is for... even though it only had 8 tracks it was just amazing from start to finish. This is not as great as that album, but it was worth it for us just to get a new perspective on some great music.

3.0 out of 5 stars "Aight" 29 Nov 2013

I love to love MJK, but this is mediocre. Obviously a lot went into it (it's not lazy), but it just kind of misses the mark for me. V is for Viagra was a better remix album. Still digging through this one, though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable remix album 29 Aug 2013
By Joshua - Published on Amazon.com
The title of the review is not intended as a put-down towards the album. My first observation is that if you don't like remix albums, you obviously shouldn't buy this. You would think this is obvious, but it feels like every remix album ends up getting some bad reviews just because its a remix album. In this case I think you're getting exactly what you would expect. Like previous Puscifer remix albums you get enough originality in the tracks throughout the album that you don't feel like you're re-purchasing the same CD again.

The overall mood is not quite the same 80's synth-pop vibe as their Donkey Punch the Night, but there are some hints here and there. Given the direction that it took as an album, All Remixed Up feels like a reasonable next direction for Puscifer's ever-evolving style. The songs range in style from some experimental (perhaps Radiohead-esque?) to bass/drum driven (The Green Valley (Stolen Babies) has a great, chunky bass line), to relaxing and cathartic (Oceans (Zac Rae)). I could see some of the more experimental tracks turning some off (some pretty in-your-face stereo panning and a couple of the more repetitive samples come to mind), but all things considered I'm not displeased with my purchase.

All Re-Mixed Up is a great companion album to Conditions of My Parole. I hope that Maynard and Co. keep them coming into the future.
5.0 out of 5 stars I ordered this out of curiosity. 11 July 2014

It abducted my attention and would not relinquish it. 'Conditions of My Parole' is deserted island material, but this interpretation may be even better. I did not expect to like this. I certainly didn't expect to love it. The soundfield this creates in my listening room is gargantuan. Each and every remix paints its song in the appropriate mood. 'Oceans' is hauntingly beautiful – justifying the price of admission all by itself, but it finds itself in great company.

I purchased this a month ago. It's been in steady rotation ever since. I have a feeling it will remain an active member of my collection until I am no more. This isn't Tool. It's not really even Puscifer, at least, not purely. What it is, is brilliant.
