3.0 out of 5 stars Cupid, Texas book 2 13 July 2013
By Kate Phillips TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Generally speaking I really enjoy contemporary romances like All Out of Love, they are sweet, easy to read and likable. They are not masterpieces or meant to be taken very seriously they are just enjoyable and fun. All Out of Love was no exception and I really enjoyed it.

Lace has been in love with Pierce ever since they were at high school together. He was the star football player and she the school loser. She hasn't seen him since he class mates cruelly exposed her crush on him to the whole town and she is happy to keep it that way. But Pierce, now a star quarter back is coming home and staying away from Lace is the last thing on his mind.

I really liked All Out of Love it had a really sweet storyline and was packed full of nice writing. It wasn't full of drama and flowed at a really nice pace. It was a little cheesy in parts but I expect that from books like this so it wasn't a problem for me.

There was only one part of this book that really annoyed me, it wasn't a big deal and for most readers it won't really mater but it really grated on me. Lace is a botanist and when she is upset and needs to curse she uses botanical terms instead of swear words, for example `organic fertilizer'. I think this was supposed to be cute but for me it was just irritated especially because it happened so often.

The characters were good and I mostly liked them. Pierce was charming and sweet, he had not exactly been a good guy before coming home but he was aware of his faults and determined to change himself for the better. Lace was nice as well, she was a simple, normal woman living a simple, normal life. I understood her concerns regarding Pierce and could understand why she was skittish about their relationship.

All Out of Love - Lori Wilde

I think that this is the last time I am going to be visiting Cupid Texas. This is the second book I have read in this series and I am a just as unhappy with this one as I was with the first one. The plot device is the same what little plot there is over and beyond the romance is sketchy and flimsy, stuck in as an afterthought. I just had to read a second book to see if it was just the first book or the author.

The book started on a great note - it starts with the heroine being 14 years old, crushing on her brothers best friend who also happens to be the school golden boy. This secret crush has just been revealed to the entire school because she wrote a letter to Cupid - this letter writing stems from a legend about a statue and the town founders. The heroine ends up humiliated and the hero ends up being quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.

In this book, the `heroine' was downright nasty and it seemed to never let up. The hero was insipid and seemed to have the libido and mentality of a sixteen-year-old boy who hasn't gotten his hormones leashed yet.
I DO know that the sex and the lascivious and constant thoughts leading up to the action that both protagonists have, is important to the genre. Nevertheless, I do not think I really need to be hit over the head with these thoughts. Subtlety and brevity would have served Ms.Wilde a little better.

This is yet again another book in which the protagonists spend more time talking to themselves than they do talking to each other or to other people.*ARC Supplied By Publisher*

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down 28 Jun 2013

'All Out of Love' is the second book (or third if you count the Novella 'One True Love' that describes the legend of the town) in the Cupid, Texas series by Lori Wilde. The book can be read before the others but I recommend reading them all in sequence so you get the full flavour. I love the whole series; this is my favourite as it has a strong storyline that follows on from the town's introduction described in detail in the previous book. The love story is powerful and it is wonderful to see how both parties work through their problems to find each other. The town seems so real that you feel that you could and would go there for a visit. The characters are well rounded with a brilliant support cast, and I hope that the series is going to go on long after the initial trilogy is finished. I love Lori Wilde's writing and can't wait for the next in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars All Out of Love 10 July 2013
By Lady M - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Lori Wilde's latest book "All Out of Love" is the second book in the "Cupid Texas Novels". Her writing captivates you with the quirky characters of Cupid, Texas before you finish the first chapter.

The setting in a small town in Texas could be any small town in America... and as in small towns, everyone knows everyone... or knows someone that knows everyone... and nothing is a secret. The trials of her main character Lace Bettingfield brings you back to your teenage first crush and the humiliation that can come with having that crush made public, especially if that crush is the high school quarterback Pierce Hollister who is your big brother's best friend and you happen to be a nerdy awkward freshman.

Fast forward 12 years....Lace Bettingfield and Pierce Hollister have grown, matured, and come back home. After receiving her PhD, Lace returns for a position in her beloved Cupid Botanical Gardens. Pierce, the famous quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, comes back to check on his ailing father, in the middle of rehab for the broken leg he received during the Super Bowl. As in all small towns, it's only a matter of time before your paths cross.

Pierce sees Lace in a different light and Lace is determined not to be another notch in his belt of conquests.

Lori Wilde takes you on a journey that will have you laughing, frowning, cheering, and breathless at times! Come sit a spell and get to know the people of Cupid, Texas. A great read!

1.0 out of 5 stars Sooooo horrible!!! 14 Aug 2013

I am stunned by the glowing reviews for this book. I genuinely hated it. The main female character, Lacy, is a total bag! Who would be attracted to someone who makes sarcastic cutting responses to everything you say? In addition to that, the book was tedious in the extreme! Even after shelling out the cash for this waste of time, I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. I honestly don't care if there is a HEA (which I always want!), because I don't think the main character deserves one.

4.0 out of 5 stars A geeky botanist + Dallas Cowboy quarterback= an amazing read! 10 July 2013

I am a fan of Lori Wilde, I have always enjoyed her books and this book was a delight to read. I loved Cupid, Texas and will be going back for sure and reading the other two books (One True Love and Love at First Sight) in this series. **I read All Out of Love as a stand alone book and I enjoyed the story without feeling like I was missing anything, Lori Wilde does a great job making the reader feel right at home in Cupid. You don't NEED to read the first book in the series to enjoy Lace & Pierce's story, but it would probably be a great visit back to Cupid, Texas for those that have read Love at First Sight.**

All Out of Love lets you experience what happens when your childhood crush comes home 12 years later and finally "sees you". *Sigh* I loved watching Lace and Pierce circle each other, then ignite and then fall, it was a fabulous ride (even though Lace annoyed me at times, she is forgiven in the end).

One of my favorite things about romance novels is the dialogue and Lori Wild does an amazing job with letting her characters tell you their story. Lace and Pierce really shine through their banter, wit and charm, I loved their "sexy football/botany word foreplay". The writing in All Out of Love flows, the pacing is great, and you feel like you are put in Lace's shoes, finally getting your chance at your teenage crush (who is now ALL man).

All Out of Love is another 1-click recommendation, it has the geeky girl, the quarterback, a sexy romance and a quirky town that is chock full of characters that are just waiting for their own story. Lori Wilde is an author that I know will give me a story that will pull at my heart strings, leave me breathless and beaming with happiness when it is all over. I highly recommend any of her books, especially All Out of Love and the town of Cupid, Texas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another STEAMY Trip To Cupid Texas! 9 July 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I like Lori Wilde and I love her Cupid, Texas novels. All Out of Love is a steamy, touching story about two people who have to find their way to each other by wading through all the baggage from their past. But when they finally get there... things are HOT! The scene in the greenhouse will go down as one of the most erotic I have read in recent years.

Lace Bettingfield is a knockout, she's extremely intelligent and hallelujah... she's a curvy size 14! However, as a tender aged teenager and in love with the school football hero, Pierce Hollister, Lace was humiliated in front of the entire school when her letter of unrequited love ends up in the school newspaper. That's a tough one to live down, but Lace gets on with her life, gets her PHD and runs the Botanical Gardens in Cupid. Pierce Hollister Dallas Cowboys' star quarterback and hometown hero returns to Cupid after sustaining a career threatening injury, only to find that little Lace is all grown up and suddenly, she is all he can think about. But for Lace, the pain of her humiliation is still a thorn in her side even after all these years, so it's going to take a lot of convincing on Pierce's part to get her to give him a chance to prove that maybe she is exactly what he has been looking for all this time. Lace is not the most likable character in the beginning, in fact she carries on being snarky just a little too long. But it's nice to see Pierce humbled a little since life has always gone exactly the way he wants it to. When push comes to shove though, Lace is there when Pierce needs her and they both begin to realize that what they have may be the real deal.

It's another satisfying trip to Cupid, Texas and a fun way to spend a summer afternoon, just make sure you have a cool drink on hand to get you through when things start to heat up between Lace and Pierce!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is as HOT as Texas! 12 Sep 2013

I am a huge fan of Lori Wilde and she aimed to please in her latest Cupid novel, All Out of Love. The story of Pierce and Lace was comical, sweet and nice and steamy! Their story is very similiar to mine and my husband so I could relate to Lace and the innocent love she had for Pierce for so many years. Pierce is the all-American guy...quarterback verses cowboy that every woman swoons over and dreams about. Wilde also introducted Pierce's brother, Malcolm and Shasta, who works with Lace at Cupid's botanical gardens...I can forsee a steamy romance between these two coming up! I would definitely recommend All Out of Love, its a great read!! A+ for Lori Wilde!!!
