" All or Nothing" by Linda Page

This tells the tale of two friends Frankie and Stella, whose friendship and love lives are destroyed by the arrival of Eddie Taylor. He pretends to be a rich business man but really he wants money for himself and comes from a rough family of jail birds and the only form of work ho knows is dealing in stolen and dodgy goods!

He is under the misapprehension from Stella that Frankie is in line to inherit a garage, which is a thriving business from her Father. When it is actually her Uncle who owns the Garage.

He finds this out after he has swept Frankie off her feet with his charm and married her quickly and quietly without anyone else knowing. Stella who had fallen for Eddie too felt that Frankie had "stolen" him from her and stopped speaking to Frankie. Her current boyfriend was stunned and moved away from the area but Frankie was happy with Eddie. He maintained that his family had disowned him without a penny because he had married Frankie. He worked in the garage and they rented a house together but Eddie was always looking for an opportunity to break away. He started going out with Stella behind Frankie's back but when she found out they had a row and she fell and lost the baby she was carrying.

While she was in hospital he tried to steal money out of the garage safe but was caught by Frankie's uncle but he fought him off and killed him. Leaving things as they were it looked like a break in and when her uncle's will was read he had left his bungalow and business to Frankie. She had no desire to go back to the garage so Eddie ran it and used it as a cover to make money through illegal deals...
