3.0 out of 5 stars Cowgirl and City Boy 13 Feb 2003
Format:Paperback
Casey Straton is out to prove something to her dad – that she as a woman could run the ranch she and her siblings have inherited just fine. To do so, she has run away from home (yeah, real mature) and taken up bounty hunting. No dummy, she wears mens outfits and has cut her hair short – although she’s never SAID she’s a male, she knows that is the impression that others get from her new look.
Damian Rutledge III has come west seeking revenge and needs to find a criminal and take him to justice. However, the West is harsh on ‘greenhorns’ and he soon finds himself in need of the assistance of the bounty hunter they call ‘Kid’.
How Damian stumbles across Casey, how they travel together in search of bounty and find more than they bargain for is told with Lindsey’s customary charm and ability with romance. I found the tale to be a gentle romance with a light touch of steaminess, I doubt any of which would offend. It didn’t exactly rock my world, but it did keep me interested from start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book. Couldn't put it down. 9 April 1999
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
When I read this book, I had no idea that it was a sequel, but now I'm eager to read what came before. I absolutely loved the heroin! She was so admirable and not at all helpless. And Damian was the perfect match for her. The contrast between the two made for a very interesting combination. Definitely a keeper!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a keeper, that's for sure 16 July 1998
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I just finished this book and must say I'm glad I checked it out from the library instead of shelling out $22! This story was dry and uninteresting, and like another reviewer, I found myself skipping pages merely to get to the end faster. I have read better Lindsey books, and hope that her last couple of novels are not an indication that her good writing days are over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Johanna Lindsey wrote another fantastic book. 22 Nov 1997

Format:Hardcover
This another one of Ms. Lindsey work of arts. The characters of Casey and Damien really come to life. It really is a must read book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Johanna writes you into the story. 11 Nov 1997
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Johanna Lindsey is one of THE best dialog authors I have ever read. This novel is no exception. It moves from witty to sensual in the blink of an eye. Her writing style makes you feel as though you are right there on the range with Casey and Damian. I did not put the book down even once. With this, as with
any Lindsey novel, it would have been an insult to do so.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring. I never even finished it! 24 Dec 1998
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Although usually an avid Lindsey fan, this book was very disappointing. I never even made it past the first chapter and it was donated to my public library. Don't bother even trying it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of her best 2 Dec 1998
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I have all of her books, but this one I checked out from the library, and I am glad I did. I didn't like it that Damien was presented as a tender foot. It would have been alot more enjoyable to read if Damien would have been someone that I would have wanted to capture myself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not her best but enjoyable reading just the same. 24 July 1998
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I have purchased and read every single book she has ever written and I must say that this latest isn't one of her best. But it is always fun to revisit old characters and feel like you are returning to a familiar place and see what "old friends" are up to. I hope that now with that she is writting only 1 book per year that she will have the time to really get back into her old style of writting, those books that can be read over and over again like Fires of Winter and maybe expand on her Malory story line. I think a real winner would be if she got together with another of my favs, Jude Deveraux and married a Malory off to a Montgomery, then it would be worth the wait and the price tag!
