For anyone who is a fan of The Replacements but is not intending to go out and buy the new remasters of the 'Mats back catalogue (although you probably should)this might be a good purchase. Disc one is a reasonable reflection of the bands best work from the albums Tim, Pleased to Meet Me, Don't Tell a Soul and All Shook Down, in other words their major label period. The remastering vastly improves the sound of the original CD versions of the songs contained within, but as with most compilations fans can quibble over what was left out. I personally would not have omitted 'A little Mascara' from Tim or maybe 'Happy Town' from the superb All Shook Down album.
Disc two contains primarily earlier versions and demos of songs that appear on the albums mentioned above, and may not be of much interest to non veteran fans. Having said that you could make a case that the price of this compilation alone is worth it just to have the Replacements ear bleeding live rendition of the Only Ones 'Another Girl, Another Planet'.
