There are some things in life which just can't be explained fully. Things such as why, after nearly four years, have The Saturdays still not had a number 1 single to their name? Flo Rida connivingly stole their thunder at the very last minute when they released 'Just Can't Get Enough' and 'Missing You', and Chipmunk did likewise when they released 'Forever is Over'.
And so we arrive at the girls' 11th single release, 'All Fired Up', the follow up to their blindingly good hit 'Notorious' from June and the 2nd single off their forthcoming new album, due in November. And whilst I've said this about virtually every single of theirs since 'Just Can't Get Enough', this time I absolutely mean what I'm about to say: if this can't get them their first number 1 than I don't know what will.
It keeps on down the dancier route that 'Notorious' took whilst being that little bit cooler, sharper and more knowing than maybe even some of their other singles have been in the past - and it also marks the first time that they have collaborated with Brian Higgins and his team at Xenomania, all those years on from when they first came to our attention supporting Xenomania's most famous clients and the girls' labelmates, Girls Aloud. And the total euphoric vibe of the song just makes you wonder why they didn't collaborate sooner. All this, plus huge radio support this time round must mean they're guaranteed to hit the top.
