Book Description

5 Dec 2011
ALL THE DIAMONDS IN THE WORLD A middle-aged historian quietly in search of manuscripts and icons finds himself mixed up with a murdered monk in a remote monastery on Mount Athos, a beautiful woman younger than himself and a mysterious ancient association known as the Brotherhood of the Holy Face, who would stop at nothing to recover the icon in question - which they believe holds the key to world peace ... or world war. This page-turning chase soars at a hectic pace through Greece, Italy and Turkey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Change of tack for Mark Guscin 20 Aug 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Mark Guscin is best known as a scholar and translator and has written numerous books about historical topics. In this, his first novel, he has made the transition from scholar to novelist with great flair. 'All the diamonds in the world' is, at heart, a love story set in the present day but with a fascinating back story set in historical times and revolving around the history of the Mandylion and the Shroud of Turin. Far from being merely romantic reading, the book contains violence and eroticism, and Guscin tackles 2 important themes in the book, the challenge of maintaining the initial romance and excitement in a relationship, and the conflict between the spiritual and the carnal. Highly recommended, exciting, brutal and tender, and a great story.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book! 19 Feb 2012
By Ben
Format:Kindle Edition
This book contains historical intrest, romance and action. Throughout the book, it is consistently a page turner. At the end, when the secret comes out you realise how clever the book was. I have recommended this book to a few of my friends who have also enjoyed the story. This is perfect for those who enjoyed the Da Vinci code and need a great book over the holidays.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like mystery and romance... 10 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you like mystery and romance then, like me, you'll enjoy this. The Da Vinci Code showed how much literary fun could be had with some of religion's greatest secrets. In Guscin's novel you also get a peak into the real life of someone who spends his life trying to fathom them. No one reading this could ever think there is anything dry and dusty about scholarly investigation. Quite the contrary when the protagonist is poleaxed (metaphorically) by the impact of a Scandinavian beauty at just the time those that want him to stop digging catch up with him. What's best of all: the secret, when it finally emerges, is something that stares us all in the face from time to time. More like this, please.
