Having split from Eric Burden, with whom they released 2 albums, War released an eponymous album, which further hinted at their promise, but it was this album, All Day Music that saw that promise begin to be fulfilled.

The title track is probably well known to most, and it's a laid back jazzy, funky groove that evokes summer and lazy days, before one of my favourite War tracks kicks in - "Get Down", with it's driving latin funk beat. "Nappy Head" sounds like Santana could have recorded it, "Baby Brother" is a bluesy forerunner of the track they would revisit as Me and Baby Brother on "Deliver The Word" and "That's What Love Will Do" is a slow burning ballad. Top it of with the quirky "...Reason" and the original version of "Slippin'Into Darkness" and you have a classic album.

War would go on to huge success with the albums that followed, but I return to this one time and again as my favourite - recommended to all SOul and Funk fans, and party people in general
