Product Description

Synopsis

Arguably the greatest player to represent Australia's most famous football club, Nathan Buckley has had an extraordinary career that boasts a Brownlow Medal, a Norm Smith Medal, six club best and fairest awards, and nine seasons as captain of Collingwood. A true professional and an astute self-analyst, he is now one of the most respected authorities on the game. Few players have attracted as much attention as Buckley, but despite the years of intense scrutiny, he remains one of football's most intruiging and misunderstood figures. All I Can Be reveals the vast gulf between the public perception of Nathan Buckley and the man he really is. Buckley's brutally honest insights are enhanced by frank commentary of family, friends, teammates, coaches and opponents. This is the highly anticipated story of one of football's finest, who gave his all but who never experienced the glory of an AFL premiership. It is a privileged, fascinating glimpse into the heart and mind of a truly inspirational sporting legend, and his relentless quest to become the best he could be.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great pressie for my husband 5 Feb 2009
Format:Hardcover
My husband is a massive Aussie Rules Footy fan and loves Collingwood. He had been asking for Nathan Buckleys autobiography so was happy to receive it this at Christmas. I haven't read it myself but he seems to have really enjoyed the book and I quite often hear him laughing at bits. A great read for any AFL Collingwood fan. Quite a large hard backed book.

Football lovers and Nathan know he's an outstanding athlete, but Nathan's little writing knowledge has shone through and explains how he can bore a reader. Nathan needs to be reminded to respect the reader, all readers don't need reminding of 'How good I am or I've always been known to be arrogant ', by his coach's, players and family on every second page.

Unbelievable book, so inspirational and motivating. His belief in hard work and more hard work will get you where you want to go, bleeds through every page. Although one of the games best players if not the best, he doesn't underestimate or shy away from the fact it was a lot of sacrifice and hard work to get him where he is today. Couldn't put the book down and a nice touch is other detailed accounts from people close to him in different stages of his life. I recommend to anyone who wants to get motivated to achieve there own goals or someone who like me is a footy nut and wants to find out what it takes to make it all the way to the top.
