Greenhouses for a continental climate,
By
This review is from: All About Greenhouses (Ortho's All about) (Paperback)
This is basically a North American book . Temperatures are in Fahrenreit and measurements in feet and inches. More to the point, it's a book about greenhouses for cold winters and hot summers. I suspect not many UK hobby greenhouses have kerosene heaters, solar heat sinks, fans and swamp coolers. Being American, it considers 100 square feet - equivalent to two 6' x 8' greenhouses- is necessary to allow for benches and aisles. This could appeal to the ambitious greenhouse grower who wants to expand their horizons. Certainly the book, with 23 pages of plans for wooden greenhouses, flags up that a greenhouse needn't be a kit, aluminium or barn-shaped.

Very nice picture book. Not much info on greenhouse growing but good info on greenhouses of ten years ago. The newer greenhouse have been left out. So much has changed in the last few years, double poly roofs, hydroponics, heating under tables, steal construction, shading, cross ventilation, all were left out of this new edition but nice color pictures and a good beginner book. If you want a up to date greenhouse book see, Secrets to a Successful Greenhouse and Business.

The beginner's introduction to greenhouses.,

Good book for those who just want basic information and principles. Descriptive literature is good, pictures are excellent, and the book is pleasantly / logically arranged. Is it the "source" on greenhouses, no. However, it is a good read and good book. I have purchased other resources (including the heavy text recommended by another reviewer) and find this book to be generally as informative as the others, particularly given its price.

This book gives great information from building the foundation to shelving. I found it a great help in choosing my greenhouse kit and what foundation to use. Anyone interested in purchasing or building their own greenhouse needs this book. I read several, this one was the best.
