Product Description

Mankind’s two ultimate nightmares come together in mortal combat, and whoever wins — we lose. On the remote planet Ryushi, a small ranching community becomes an unwilling participant in a deadly ritual: extraterrestrial Predators have seeded Ryushi with Alien eggs in order to create the ultimate hunt. But what the Predators don’t know is that an Alien queen egg is amongst those they’ve sent as potential hunting stock, and when the Predators arrive, the hunters become the hunted amidst a monumental swarm of Aliens, and they may need to turn to the very same humans they regard as little more than potential trophies to give them any hope of survival.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book that started it all. 19 Feb 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I remember borrowing, reading and immensely enjoying a friend's original comics (that comprise the first story in this Omnibus) when I was younger. They left two big impressions on me that carry on to this very day. The first was that this is ‘THE’ AVP story that should appear in the movies (or at the very least should be used as the main source of influence).
The second being the main Yautja (Predator) ‘Broken Tusk’ with his skill and (through him) insight into aspects of Yautja culture rapidly made him, then and still, my favourite Yautja protagonist of all time. Even beating off stiff competition such as ‘Scarface’ (Concrete Jungle game), ‘Wolf’ (AVP: Requiem) and even the original movie's ‘Anytime’ jungle hunter.
I can’t recommend the Original AVP story at the beginning of this Omnibus highly enough, whether you’re a Predator, Alien or a Sci-Fi fan in general you will love it. The fact it has the follow up AVP: War and AVP: Eternal (set around present day) is just a bonus.

3.0 out of 5 stars Handle with care 11 Sep 2014

Great stories here, you can see where the movies took inspiration from. They actually should of just made the main story a movie instead of what they did. Great read for all fans of both franchise', my only gripe (hence only 3 stars) was that the pages just started falling out after I got a third of the way through. I know I bought it used like several other omnibus books I own but this was the first to have them literally fall out! Other than that though great little read.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is what AVP should look like 17 July 2008
Although it is quite a simple tale it is well written, brilliantly drawn. Written years before AVP or the even more dire AVP 2 this collection show how the story should be. In Aliens Vs. Predator Omnibus: Volume 1 on the planet Ryushi the old manager of the planet is retiring and the new female boss is not liked, a mix of a small ranching community and big buisiness a robotic craft lands and unloads Alien eggs The load herd is soon infected by face huggers but the local farmer gets them loaded on a huge space ship rather than lose a bonus because of illness. The local vet goes to where the herd got ill there he finds is a class of Predators have seeded the planet with the Alien eggs in order to create the hunt. The Predators chase the Vet who crashes into the Predator ship causing and explosion but the young Predators don't know is that their leader has been knocked out in the crash and not killed. The young Predators go on a hunt but killing the local farmers rather than Aliens. The new boss goes to find the missing Vet only to find the Leader, She takes the leader to town when the youngsters attack, while all this is happening one of the eggs must have been an Alien Queen and now the Space ship if full of thousands of Aliens, the hunters become the hunted and they may have to turn to the very same humans they have been hunting if any of them is to have any hope of survival.
More in the Aliens style this tale is the reason why AVP ever happened if only AVP was as good. Maybe the should have just filmed this.
