Alien Proliferation picks up the story several months after the ending of Alien in the Family with Kitty heavily pregnant and about to give birth to her first child. Being pregnant with an alien / human hybrid has really taken it out of our heroine though so she is stuck on bed rest and feeling rather cranky, luckily she has superdad-to-be and empath Jeff on hand to anticipate her every need. The bad guys aren't going to wait until after the happy event to start causing trouble though and things are going downhill fast. What with a plot to kill both Kitty's best friend and her mother, team members disappearing, a potential mole and some unexpected drugs testing they are in for a bumpy ride. Can Kitty figure out who is behind it all so she can relax and enjoy being a new mum?

It's official, I'm an addict! I literally can't get enough of this series and I don't know how I'm going to survive the four month wait for Alien Diplomacy (yes I have already pre-ordered my copy!). This has become an all time favourite series and now I've finished reading Alien Proliferation all I really want to do is pick up Touched by an Alien and start re-reading the books again from the beginning. If you haven't started this series yet you really don't know what you're missing.

I absolutely love Kitty, she may be heavily pregnant and going slightly insane from an abundance of hormones but she is still top of the witty banter and she has managed to surround herself with the hottest and most supportive team ever. Seriously, I can't imagine what she'd do without these guys. If you've read any of my other reviews for this series then you'll know I'm absolutely crazy about Jeff, I didn't think I could love him more but scenes with him, Kitty and the baby melted me into a puddle. Even his jealousy is hot and that would normally be a complete turn off for me. My heart both broke and jumped for joy for Christopher, I'm so pleased with how things are turning out for him. Chuckie had me in stitches when he was bantering with Jeff (especially one particular scene where he was trying to get Jeff to come home for Kitty) but he also had an incredibly sweet moment with Kitty that brought a tear to my eye. Reader, Gower and ACE - love, love and love some more along with the fly boys and the rest of team Alpha. Not forgetting Kitty's new partner who came as a complete shock to me but an absolutely wonderful one.

Alien Proliferation has everything you'd expect from Gini Koch and this series - romance, action, comedy, shocking twists, swoon worthy hunks (both alien and human), a kick ass heroine, great friendships, an ever increasing cast of fabulous characters (some of them even come with uniforms!), witty banter, an adorable baby (so that's a new one but the baby boom is well and truly on it's way), awesome pet poofies and so much more. OK there may be a little less smex that you'd expect but Kitty has just given birth so even she has to take a bit of a break lol. A fabulous installment to a fabulous series and one I can't wait to continue!

A pivotal story for the next chapter in the Alien Series 7 Dec 2011
By Marnie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Katherine "Kitty" Katt-Martini doesn't do anything average, easy or simple. What makes anyone think that her pregnancy, birth and subsequent raising of her progeny would be any different? Maybe, her husband Jeff Martini, who was worried out of of his mind and determined to make it easy, simple and as average as one could get when having and raising a half human, half alien baby.

But Jeff didn't plan on baby having their own plans and baby most certainly has other plans.

Now throw in a baby boom among the Alien woman, sudden disappearances of key AC's across the globe, mysterious attacks and a shifting a power that only Kitty could have foretold and you have a recipe for a typical week for Kitty and Jeff.

Oh, did I mention that Kitty is now superhuman and much to the dismay of her husband Jeff - she has a surprising new partner!

Kitty is about to kick some butt and take names later - remember "don't mess with the comic geek-girl" (from Alien Proliferation)!

I eagerly awaited this book for many reasons. The first being that I love the character of Kitty. I can relate to this woman and I missed her. I know you say how can I relate to a character in a book who is married to an alien and fights monsters? Well, duh I can't, but I can relate to how Kitty responds to the situations she is put in. Logically and rationally - like any modern woman would.

After kicking a door down and booting an Alien across the floor...Kitty stated

"But you can be happy with this knowledge - they're both a lot nicer than I am."

I would so say that and totally mean it too.

I do so love the writing style of Gini Koch, she delivers spot on dialogue, amazing thought processes (yes I can keep up) and diabolical twist that you see coming but just can't identify until Kitty unwinds it.

" You know at a time like this, I just have to ask one question of you vicious bastards - WWWD?" (WWWD = What would Wolverine do?)

Second is her character development. In this book it's expanded and dives further into the supporting characters. Yes, you heard me correctly and for all us Christopher lovers we can all say - Finally! This isn't to say that Kitty and Jeff take a back burner - it's more like they find their groove and start helping others find theirs. (That is all the hints you are getting!)

Third her fearlessness in incorporating humor, monster killing and some serious plot lines together in a story about aliens. Alien Proliferation addresses some pretty big things and they were done in a meaningful, serious manner but they stay true to the overall nature of the story. Kudos to Gini Koch.

Fourth and probably one of the tops reasons I love this series, change. Alien Proliferation is riddled with change. New type of bad guy. New partnerships. New experiences. New group dynamics. I think with a series like this change is necessary because its life and life doesn't stay the same...it evolves. Gini Koch takes her characters a huge evolution in Alien Proliferation.

I found this book to be a great addition to the series. I loved all the familiar elements of Kitty's world. Her banter, her thought process, her devotion to her `family' and her love of Jeff. Jeff - well what can I say about him - yummy! In Alien Proliferation his role wasn't as prominent as past books. He was more of the driving force behind the scenes. Overall the progression of Kitty and Jeff's relationship seems to be heading in some interesting directions. I will say I was a little worried for a nanosecond that `baby' would change the dynamics and the personalities of the Kitty and Jeff in a not so happy way - needless to say I had nothing to worry about.

I felt this book was more of a transition book to the next phase of the adventure and as such I would not recommend reading this as a standalone. This book was more about changing the game and the roles people play in the world that Gini Koch created. You couldn't put this book down - every paragraph and sentence was a must read. Well written, funny, emotional and filled with constant adventure and witty repartee!

Gini Koch's Series Just Keeps Getting Better 7 Dec 2011
By ratkin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I've been a big fan of Gini Koch's series featuring Katherine "Kitty" Katt since the very first book, and this fourth installment certainly reinforces every positive thought I've had on the subject. The books are all fast-paced pleasure reading of the highest order, packed with action, comedy, drama, plot twists, and characters you would really like to meet. Every book in the series seems to end too soon, leaving you desperate for just a little more. The time until the next book comes out is always too long.

One of the things that really sets this series apart from many others is that nothing stays static. Rather than work with a small cast of characters whose roles remain fixed throughout the series, every one of Gini Koch's books seems to add new characters to the cast, new and previously unseen sides to the existing characters, and great new circumstances. This book is particular is a game changer in several major ways. By the time you get to the last page you'll realize that Kitty and Jeff's new baby is far from being the biggest surprise in the story. Without giving anything away, let's just say that "Alien Proliferation" brings about a number of major changes in direction that will alter everything that comes after it.

One of the hard things about reviewing this book is that it's almost impossible to discuss any aspect of it without spoiling a surprise someplace. I'll have to content myself with simply saying that this is a wonderful new addition to my favorite series.

Oh yeah...in my humble opinion, it's going to be too long before the next book ("Alien Diplomacy") comes out!

There's a new addition to the gang! 6 Dec 2011
By *Bells* - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Change is the main theme in Alien Proliferation as the gang prepares for the arrival of a new member! As you can see from the front cover of the book, our main character Kitty and her husband the very sexy alien Martini get ready for the birth of their 1st child. The don't know what to expect since it's been a while since an human/alien hybrid has been born. This should be a calming time for the parents to be, but things don't remain calm for long once a new threat appears and places the lives of Kitty and Martini's loved ones in danger. The team must scramble to get everyone to a safe location and Kitty has a lot on her mind because not only is she worried about everyone's safety, her baby decides it's also the best time to be born. I don't know how Kitty manages to mentally do it all but she does. There was a scene during the birth that had me tearing up because it was extremely emotional. It's at this time that I really, truly loved the character writing from the author Gini Koch. She knows how to bring out the best in her characters at the right moment. If you are a fan of this series you will know that Kitty has a great group of people that love her and that is truly felt while reading this scene. It's as if these characters are meant to be with each other so that when they are needed, they are there. But with as much seriousness as there is in the book, there was also lots of laughter. Gini Koch had me howling once again as there were so many funny moments throughout the book. Who else other than Gini can have me tearing up one moment and laughing the next. It's always the same experience for me when I read one of her books and I look forward to it each time.

The characters of Kitty and Martini have such a bond and it's stronger than ever in Alien Proliferation. The birth of their child strengthens that bond even more and as a reader of this series you can't help but be in love with these characters. They just say the sweetest things to one another in this book and I found myself swooning a couple of times at Martini's love for Kitty. She truly makes him a better man and he knows that. You can tell that the author loves her characters and only writes the best for them. I was even impressed with Chuckie's character this time around. He hasn't been my favorite in the previous books, but I feel as if he really stepped up and did his thing in this one. As always, I loved Reader, Christopher, and the rest of the gang. They all make a great team and if there was a time when teamwork was needed, it was in this book.

Lot's of twists and turns in this book. Just when I though that things had calmed down for the new parents, the excitement level was turned up another notch! Poor things barely got any rest because they had to deal with so much on so many different levels! I also loved that the characters had to travel to France in the book and that entire experience was action filled. There is also a scene in the book in which the characters finally figure out what's really going on and all I would think was O.M.G! The scene was straight out of a movie and it was awesome and freaky at the same time! It gave me chills and I'm amazed how Gini comes up with all the different ideas for her books. The different ideas keep her readers entertained and wanting more!
