Giant alien machines are enslaving humanity and feeding off of them. Its up to the last few survivors to come together and make a stand against them and, ultimately, their extinction.
Much like The Asylum, Phase 4 Films makes low-budget films. And, like The Asylum, they make mockbusters of big budget films as well(in this case, War of the Worlds). However, they aren't quite as bold with stating so in their titles. In turn, that takes alot of heat off them for doing so. People give their films a chance which is good because, much like The Asylum, they do make good films when they want to. Another reviewer here got it right when they said that Alien Dawn is not a big budget Sci-Fi but it's better than that Sy-Fy channel nonsense. I'm inclined to agree. It was entertaining for what it was.
However, I don't really suppose that I'd watch this movie more than once. Not that the acting or the plot of the film was bad or anything. It was okay. It just seemed rather generic for a science-fiction film. Nothing greatly inspiring or fun to make me want to watch it over again, you know?
My only gripe with the film is, like others here have stated, is the constant flashing on screen when battling is taking place. It was rather annoying.
As I stated before, for what Alien Dawn is trying to do, it does so decently. It was an entertaining for the 85 minutes that it lasted...and, in my books, that makes this film okay with me. Give it a look.
