3.0 out of 5 stars Alien Action Hero!! 8 Mar 2011
Format:DVD
This film stars Mark Dacascos and Billy Zane, and is directed by Jesse Johnson. As you can guess by the title this is an alien movie, with the tag line `Driven by Vengeance Fuelled by Honour'. As usual aliens have come to take over the world.

Dacascos plays the hero Rykker, an alien stuck on earth trying to stop an evil alien syndicate from building a portal from their world to ours. Should they succeed, complete world domination awaits. A waitress from a diner gets caught in the middle when Rykker stops for a bite to eat and gets attacked. With no choice Rykker has to take her with him or she'll die. The two of them must stop Saylon (Zane) from finding the last component needed for the machine and completing the portal. Using his martial arts skills Rykker kicks alien butt until he runs into an old flame. Can he fight past his old feeling and stop the destruction of earth as we know it.

It's more an action flick than it is a sci-fi movie. Dacascos fight scenes are brilliantly shot with intermittent random violence thrown in to keep the story going. The relationship between Rykker and the girl seems a bit forced at first but as the film progress and the back story come into play and it makes a lot more sense. For me however Billy Zane steals the show with his crazy bad guy persona going all out right up till the end fight off with Rykker. Overall not a bad movie, the action scenes definitely save it from being only mediocre. As a Sci-fi I'd give it a 3 / 5, as an Action a 4 / 5.

3.0 out of 5 stars They are invading... again 19 May 2008
By R. Bagula - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Mostly a martial arts film with a beautiful female alien,
all flame tattooed with a chain whip
and an innocent young girl who fixates on the agent hero
who is trying to prevent the ancient race with the dying sun from
moving in and taking over Earth. Really with global warming
no sane alien race would want this place?
It appears in the end he manages to blow up the gate ...
another 'B' sci fi film that isn't too bad.
I enjoyed it.

3.0 out of 5 stars I've seen worse.. 13 April 2008
By H. A Huffman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
First off, I like Marc Dacascos, he's usually pretty good in his movies. He's good in this film too, but Alien Agent suffers from a miniscule budget and a re-treaded plot. The Hidden, Dark Breed, The Silencers are just a few of the movies that have used the "Alien Cop" motif; and had bigger budgets.

All in all, Alien Agent is a mildly pleasing diversion, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but not great 29 Feb 2008
By Cynthia. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
This movie was good enough to sit through while doing other things, but it wasn't good enough that I'd recommend setting time out for it. The storyline was good, but it was far too cliche. It didn't captivate me or excite me. It was something to do while passing some time and nothing more. The acting was pretty good, and so were the sets, but much of the writing was far too predictable.

Also, the storyline rules seemed to change part of the way through. In the beginning, Isis was running from Riker, but halfway through, she was chasing him and knew psychically where to find him. While his power was draining the longer he was on earth, none of the other aliens suffered that problem.

And finally, the last scene was confusing. I didn't know where they were and I'd forgotten who this particular antagonist was. It could have been left out altogether and the movie would have been no better or worse.

So, if it's on the movie channel and you like sci-fi and you've nothing better to do for an hour and a half, go for it. It'll at least keep you interested. Otherwise, give it a pass or tape it for when you're looking for a marathon veg-out in front of the TV.
