Product Description

The sensational Amazon.com bestseller. #1 Science Fiction and Horror bestseller. More than 50,000 copies sold in less than three months.

NOW AVAILABLE- THROUGH THE KILLING GLASS: ALICE IN DEADLAND BOOK II.

Civilization as we know it ended more than fifteen years ago, leaving as it's legacy barren wastelands called the Deadland and a new terror for the humans who survived- hordes of undead Biters.

Fifteen year-old Alice has spent her entire life in the Deadland, her education consisting of how best to use guns and knives in the ongoing war for survival against the Biters. One day, Alice spots a Biter disappearing into a hole in the ground and follows it, in search of fabled underground Biter bases.

What Alice discovers there propels her into an action-packed adventure that changes her life and that of all humans in the Deadland forever. An adventure where she learns the terrible conspiracy behind the ruin of humanity, the truth behind the origin of the Biters, and the prophecy the mysterious Biter Queen believes Alice is destined to fulfill.

A prophecy based on the charred remains of the last book in the Deadland- a book called Alice in Wonderland.

Not a bad read. The plot runs along ok, with plenty of interesting events, but the opening four chapters had a very repeatitive sentence structure. This made the book hard to get into to begin with. There could have been more character development here and the language is a tad formal at times, but I was impressed with the ending and will no doubt buy the second book, seeing as that his writing style improved towards the end of this installment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 17 Sep 2012

The first few chapters do get a bit tedious and aren't written too well... However, as you get through the book the plot becomes thicker and so much more interesting! It's refreshing to see that it's not just another zombie story where the characters are hiding all the time, waiting for something to come out so that they can kill. It actually turns itself around and shows who the real 'bad guys' are and is a real page turner!

For just over a quid, you can't go wrong!

I bought this novel as a non-taxing read for my exam period; however I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is! It starts off very slowly (and badly), and there is very little character depth; however as you progress the story becomes more thought through, and has some interesting political and social ideas (although it must be said these are not explored in much, or any, detail). While it may be linked to the fact that I was studying similar social/political possibilities and ideas at the time; I did feel that the book encouraged you to think about these issues, even if not in direct relation to the plot - I guess to appeal to a wider audience range.

The book was far more gripping than good for my revision, and all-in-all I enjoyed it, especially towards the end when the embarrassing and feeble Alice in Wonderland parallels stop and the story picks up momentum. However the main character, Alice, retains her shallow character (she is irritating beyond relief, and has no faults) and events and details are twisted to suit the plot. While it will not be the next literature breakthrough, it is enjoyable and I am considering buying the sequal as a holiday read.
