Book Description

1 Mar 2012 Alice Miranda

Can one tiny girl change a very big school?

Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennigton-Jones can't wait to start boarding school. When she arrives at Winchesterfield-Downsfordvale Academy for Proper Young Ladies, the adventure begins . . . only not quite as Alice-Miranda expects.

The minute she sets foot on the school's manicured grounds, she senses that something is wrong: Miss Grimm, the headmistress, is nowhere to be seen, the gardens have no flowers, and a mysterious stranger seems to be hiding out on the premises.

But that's not all. Some girls are mean and spoiled, like Alethea Goldsworthy. Can Alice-Miranda defeat Alethea in one of three difficult tests she must pass to remain at school? Will she discover Winchesterfield-Downsfordvale's big secret and make things right? Well, if anyone can, it's Alice-Miranda!

Alice Miranda is our favourite character. She is enthusiastic, clever and kind. She always puts her best foot forward. Daddy says it is so refreshing to meet such a positive female character. I think that Alice Miranda at School is the best book ever and we are going to read the next book NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Perfect for young Girls 26 April 2012
This book is fun and entertaining. I've recommended this to many girls of age 7-11 and they've really taken to it. A perfect mix of colourful characters and adventure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Alice-Miranda at School: Book 1 22 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I chose the three star rating because normally you can tell a good book because you cannot put it down, but with this book, I could easily get sidetracked, which meant that I was not concentrating on the book. I wasn't impressed about the age rating as I chose it specifically because I wanted a book that was suitable for my age - 11- and I felt it wasn't rated properly. I would recommend this book to ages 7 - 10.
