I have worked my way through book one of this course and am just starting book two.
As a child I struggled to learn piano but this course is a pleasure - it takes you gradually through, introducing chords for each key (as in c major etc).
I have found that things like intervals and slurs etc suddenly make much more sense.
I dare say everyone's different, but for me - a great success.

I learned basic piano as a child - on retiring fifty years later I was bought a piano to fulfill a life long wish of learning to play it better. Having found a piano teacher, he on listening to my ability recommended this book. It is brilliant. Having come in at the right level I found the first couple of pieces relatively easy which in turn gave me the appetite for more. Whatever your taste in music, this book will cater for it. It's wide variety of pieces makes it a very friendly and fun book. Such is my relationship with it, I have even ventured (and mastered) types of music that in the past did not appeal to me. The authors of this brilliant music book are to be applauded - for me it has led to a new, thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding pastime.

Great course for the adult beginner, or those who are returning to playing or wanting a prescribed structure for teaching their own older children. I use music tutorials for both guitar and piano and, like me, I'm sure others will know that successful books are very dependent on how you personally respond to the teaching approach and layout.

I personally think this is a really well constructed course - thorough, well ordered and engaging. The pieces, as with most tutors for this level, are neither the most exciting nor the dullest. But the exercises, explanations and illustrations are clear and there is a sense of progressing quickly, while leaving nothing out.

Great course, started off knowing nothing and soon found myself playing some basic tunes using two hands. The only problem is keeping the pages open so I have just ordered the version with binding so I can actually read the music after page 40 without the book closing.
