This is a very ambitious series. The scale of coverage is vast, and a lot must follow the adventures of Alexander and narration in the sources. Its very ably written. The militiary aspects are well covered. Negatively, a little too rational and human an Alexander. In that sense, the author does try to deal with Alexander's darker side but could he ever succeed? What of the alcoholism and homosexuality. Still a ripping yarn, and one which will have you staying the course through the 3 volumes. Nobody has turned this material into a novel format with such rigour.
