Ours broke after less than a year and the shop replaced it. The new one broke (different problem) after a further 1.5 years and Alessi do not reply to our correspondence asking how to fix it. Bad buy, given the price!

This is the worst kettle I have ever used. Not only is it overpriced it is ridiculously heavy and every time it finishes boiling you have to wait to pour otherwise scalding hot water spurts out everywhere. Also, the bird for the spout is purely ornamental it must be removed when using the kettle otherwise the water pours out in two streams away from the cup.

First kettle lasted 4 months and was replaced under warranty. Second kettle lasted all of 18 months before giving up the ghost. Frustrating as we no longer live in a hard water area and felt justified in paying the vast cost, thinking the kettle would give us several years use. I loved it for the style (and was willing to put up with it being so slow to boil) but agree that it can be dangerous as hot water splatters out of the spout on pouring. All in all, a total waste of money.
