Brilliant cheerful item for both dog and owner to look at.
Ideal for water as its does not seem to leave splash marks on my kitchen floor unlike normal dog water bowls, probably due to the steel bowl being quite deep, and the outer plastic of the bowl holder being chunky and deep as well. But would also be ideal for doggy food.
Certainly holds a lot of water, and the handle looks not only great but fully functional, no more bending right down to pick up bowl, just lift by bone handle.
A real useful and dog friendly product, no more spilt or thrown bowls of water any more by a thirsty hound.
Best suited for a middle sized to large dog (mine is a beagle) bought it as his christmas present and yes he loves it too, another alessi lover in the family.
Buy one for your pet and also help out other unfortunate animals as a donation goes towards that dog pound, read the leaflet all about the doggy
shelter on the info.pack that comes with the dog bowl.
Oh, and also have a stylish/funky dog bowl to grace any kitchen.
As of 5/5/07 our dog still loves his bowl no tips or spills, certainly worth every penny spent. When I saw a pottery dog bowl for sale in a china store reduced to £8.00 my husband said how expensive, who would pay that. On pointing out that I had paid rather more than the aforementioned pottery bowl, he looked as though I had gone mad. I can honestly say though that the cost is not that much if you consider the breakages of say two or three bowls, the time and mess with spills (cleaning them up etc.) plus having a funky designer dog bowl, a treat not only for your pampered pouch but for your kitchen and think how impressed your friends and dogs friends would be, bet they still have old fashioned pottery or thin plastic ones.
Have also found out that you can fit a large metal dog bowl into the plastic container part, so you can put say the Alessi one in the dishwasher and have another on the go, then replace next day, afterall you wouldn't want to drink out of the same dirty glass every day would you?
It has really saved money and my sanity in the past five months, if I had a cat I would probably buy the cat bowl that Alessi also do, but don't tell my five year old that as he is desperate for a cat.
As of September 2008 Scooby's dog bowl is still going great guns, it still looks as stylish as it did when first purchased and with the added bonus of no water sloshed over the kitchen floor. Even the silver bowl inside washes a treat in the dishwasher and looks like new. So really well worth the money, how many dog bowls look and last as well as this ?
If only Alessi could make some dog toys, I know I would be happy along with Scooby (my big slobbery beagle hound who normally has problems sloshing his drinking water everywhere but this seems to solve the problem).
