A collectable pair of fine china espresso cups and saucers from the Officina range of Alessi items.This pair was designed by David Chipperfield.There is a matching set of 4 coffee spoons available separately.About the tea and coffee towers exhibition by Alessi.The exhibition took place in 2003 and was truly amazing.The Alessi family had asked 22 architects to design tea and coffee sets.They were given a free rein to use their imagination to the full.The designs were to be produced in a strict limited edition and the cost of production was not a limiting factor.Many of these sets are now in the hands of serious collectors and museums around the world.During 2004 Alessi asked the same architects to design pairs of espresso cups-this time to be produced in larger quantities.Hupla is one of these sets.Some of our customers are collecting the whole range.5.8cm in diameter and 4.5cm high.Holds 7.5cl.
Product Description
Set of two mocha cups with saucers in bone china. - Part of Alessi's 'Officina' sub-brand, these espresso cups form part of an extension project to Alessi's much-lauded 'Tea & Coffee Towers' - an exploration of the design possibilities of the product group undertaken by 22 internationally-renowned architects. The brief was to incorporate the spirit and aesthetics of the 'Towers' project into a single, simple item that would be accessible in terms of use and price. This very considered, but human, work is by David Chipperfield. London-based Chipperfield has won just about every architectural accolade of note and currently holds the Mies van der Rohe Chair in Barcelona.Gift-boxed.
