I bought this kit (although not through Amazon) and am very disappointed. There is a problem with the 'brain' module that means that beats are missed when hitting the snare. If the kick, snare and hi-hat are played together, the snare beat often does not register. If you play quick single strokes, triples etc on the snare, maybe 60-70% will register.
At first I though it was a fault with the snare pressure pad, so I switched the snare for one of the tom pads - same problem.
The snare volume is also very quiet - although this is an easier problem to solve.
In addition, the crash cymbal ofter registers two hits, or registers the second sound when hit - not a huge problem but would get annoying.
Type 'DM6 problem' into Google and read the results. This kit, in my opinion, is not fit for purpose and should not be sold until the problem is fixed.
It's a shame, because the rest of the kit is pretty good.

Seems that there is some negative feedback about the Alesis DM6 kit. Have to say that as an acoustic player of some 30 years my first full adventure into the electronic alternative has impressed me greatly. Sure...I have supplemented my conventional drums with electronic pads to reasonable effect in the past but make no mistake that this hugely value for money alternative to acoustic is pretty damn good. Would I use it for gigging?.....yep. All I would replace is proper cymbals and hi-hats and a snare for brush work otherwise with the right amplification it would be fine. The feel of the pads is excellent and the overall sound (once you assign the preferred voices and volume)tasty and professional.
I am a critical drummer with a hard to please attitude but this Kit is more than worth the money.

It was an xmas present for my son and he absolutely LOVED IT! It was quite easy to set up and a brilliant buy!
