Cold, Dark & Delightful - The Contemorary Face of German Space Music 4 Mar 2009
By M. Watkins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Turn out the lights and get those headphones on!

Inade are a very consistent 'dark ambient' band (I know,
I know, the labels!) from Germany. I think these guys
are also very good at what they do; I've listened to a
fair amount of electronica over the past 20+ years and
they offer something sonically unique. Those of us who enjoy
space music (and let's face it, there are several varieties
of this sub-genre) are treated to music that gets far-out
and alien, but never alienating to the mental explorer.

With Inade's music, its as if we encounter unknown
intelligences that invite man to explore with them, while
reminding him to be careful,as the wars fought throughout
his primal past may be encountered under a new guise once
he has traversed beyond the more familiar and comfortable
borders of his solar system.

With Inade, we encounter pulsars up close, feel the radiation
passing through us -transforming us, opening us to new vistas,
pushing us beyond. The music is sinuous and alchemical, not
shy about its occult leanings. It brings us to the 'event
horizons' of hard sci-fi and ancient magik; we tumble through
alternative histories, uncertain but eager to see what lies
ahead. Perhaps we'll mine a nugget of truth, we'll certainly
have a good read.

There are shades of the industrial genre, such as one might
consider if familiar with the World Serpant label, etc. But
interestingly, Inade is no clone or mish-mash of any of them.
They would only barely bring acts like Coil (or Throbbing
Gristle, etc) to mind, though for certain those acts are among
the band's stalwart antecedents and likely influences.

There are lots of reviews out there on Inade (better than mine).
So read them, listen to samples, and see if they are your cup
of tea. I'm giving them a very high recommendation!
