'It is important that addiction be addressed from a global perspective. This is one of those rare books that is able to accomplish this goal. 5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and enlightening 26 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
Another book which I have enjoyed reading. Very informative and I feel like I have learnt a lot from it. The only disappointing thing about this book was that there was no information on suboxone/subutex which would have made this an ideal reference book for drug and alcohol misuse.

2.0 out of 5 stars Like frustrated reading ? Then buy this book ! 2 Jan 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
For the addiction course that I'm doing at present this book was on the recommended book list so felt that it was a neccessary buy. Firstly, the price of the book was high considering the few times that I have used it. I bought a book by the same author , Understanding addiction behaviours and found that although the layout was concise, you had to search through the literature to find what you needed and some of it was repetative and only gave you a very loose overview of what you needed to know. Abit boring to read and didn't keep me as hooked as the book mentioned in this review. I like to be able to explain things simply and to the point and this book didn't help in that quest and wish I had not wasted the money on it as it will no doubt end up gathering dust on the shelf and as I've had it for several months now it is certainly not one of my well thumbed books that I have on this subject. Even if it's on a book list, check out others first and make this a last minute buy- especially for the money.
