Product Description

Product Description

Ginger is pleased to announce the release of the new album Albion on 31st March 2014, via Round Records. Albion was recorded in Wales throughout the summer of 2013 and was recorded as a band project. The album perfectly showcases why Ginger is one of the UK's best loved and longstanding songwriters with songs as diverse, infectious and compelling as Creepers , The Order Of the Dog and Grow A Pair . The 6 piece band having played with Ginger throughout 2012 and 2013 all over the world, including European tours with Slash and The Darkness. The Ginger Wildheart Band consists of Ginger Wildheart Vocals/Guitar Victoria Liedtke - Vocals (Hey! Hello!) Dean Denzel Pearson Drums (Losers/Young Legionnaire) Rich Jones Guitar/Vocals (ex Amen/Black Halos) Chris Catalyst Guitar/Vocals (Eureka Machines) Random Jon Poole Bass/Vocals (Cardiacs/The Wildhearts) Bryan Scary Keys/Strings/Vocals (From NYC's Evil Arrows/Bryan Scary & The Shredding Tears) It's been an amazing few years for Ginger Wildheart who has seen a massive career resurgence as he became a success story of PledgeMusic. In 2011 Ginger launched an ambitious preorder for a triple album project through the Direct to Fan platform, and went on to become the biggest success story for a British artist raising in excess of a quarter of million pounds. The album hit the shelves in 2012 and saw the Geordie icon crash back into the UK top 20 charts for the first time in 10 years, as well as picking up an award for Event of The Year at the Classic Rock Magazine Awards later that year. Not one to rest on his laurels Ginger then released two albums for his Mutation collective in 2013 (released through Mike Pattons Ipecac label) - an extreme project which featured collaborations with the likes of Shane Embury from Napalm Death, Hawkeyes, Merzbow & Mark E Smith to name but four. Perhaps his most unexpected success was the release of Hey! Hello! in the summer of 2013. A new pop rock collaboration with NY singer Victoria Liedtke. The international twosome hit the top of the official UK rock charts with their debut self titled release which was picked up by news outlets around the world. Hey! Hello! was also nominated for best New Band at The Classic Rock Awards in 2013 and their single Swimwear dominated rock radio in both the UK and US. In the UK it was the most played song on Team Rock Radio in September 2013 (as well as being playlisted on numerous others). So now in 2014, Ginger releases his 7th album in just 2 years. Ginger will also hit the road in April as frontman of The Wildhearts: The Wildhearts UK Tour dates are as follows (support from Hey Hello!): Tue 8th Apr Wolverhampton, Wulfrun Hall Wed 9th Apr Bristol, O2 Academy Thu 10th Apr Manchester, Academy Sat 12th Apr Nottingham, Nottingham Rock City Sun 13th Apr Newcastle, O2 Academy Mon 14th Apr Glasgow, O2 ABC Wed 16th Apr Cambridge, The Junction Thu 17th Apr London, Electric Ballroom

5.0 out of 5 stars Another instant classic 20 April 2014
Format:Audio CD
Although I would consider myself to have a slightly biased view as a long term Wildhearts fanatic this album is still kick ass. I have the pledge version but what is being offered here is still a 5 star recording. The production quality is again fantastic and the songs are as good as ever.

Another instant classic and if your fans of any of Gingers previous work then you can buy this with confidence.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor By Ginger Standards 21 April 2014
Format:Audio CD
There's one thing Ginger's been doing recently. And that's writing an awful lot of music.

Unfortunately this is one release too far. It's a mess of an album, filled with some great ideas but with overlong songs and with a sense that "The Ginger Wildheart Band" doesn't actually know what it is.

So you're probably wondering why I have given it 3 stars. Bearing in mind that I am reviewing the 10 track CD Release, there are two songs I will definitely add to my Favourite tracks playlist. Those being the opener, Drive and the first "single" Body Parts.

And there are some great musical bits throughout the rest, but whoever produced the album needed to strip it down. A classic example of this is the 10 Minute closer Albion. Some brilliant music with a massive amount of filler. It reminds me of a Pink Floyd closing song, only worse.

From reading the reviews, this album is not a "Best Of" the original album of 15 songs. Which of course it should be. So when I buy a 10 song CD I expect to get 7/8 damn fine tunes.

So if you want to listen to a damn good Ginger album, then buy the Hey Hello one instead. Here's hoping for better next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Come on you Baggies 15 April 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Ah, another week, another Ginger album. You know, you do start to run out of superlatives when describing the quality of the latest Ginger release, it becomes almost as if you one of those obsessive fans, that will give five stars to anything he records, but this album is really exceptional good.
Quite a straight-laced rock album (by Gingers standard anyway) but still imaginative, highly innovative with complex production & song structures (he certainly doesn't just plug his instruments & play).
With the added vocals of Victoria Liedtke (who also sang on Gingers last album "Hey! Hello!" which is another great album), she gives the songs a bit of depth, especially the tracks about relationships.
Highlight for me would be the epic 10 minute track "Albion" which mixes power-ballad, funky rock & a bit of 1940's Beverly Sisters (!).
So another almost perfect release for Ginger, perhaps that time he should try a concept album & really push his song writing brain.
