About the Author

R. Clint Peters was born in 1948 in a small town in central Washington State. Many people will not recognize him as R. Clint Peters, which is his pen name. Most people will know him as Ron Peters. R. Clint Peters (Ron) was first introduced to writing in high school, where he was told by his English teacher that he had an ability to write. Unfortunately, it took almost 40 years to use that ability. R. Clint Peters is the author of 7 completed novels, and at least six that are in-process. He has written several series, including The Pendergast series, The Ryce Dalton series, the Klete Wilkins series, and has started two new series, the Nixon French series, and the Brinkerford series. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me! 28 April 2013
By zinger - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am an avid reader and enjoy WEB Griffin, Grisham, Patterson and other authors that write their style of book. It is a rare day when I don't finish a book but this is one I won't bother to complete. About half way thru and I find I am not enjoying it at all. I am surprised because it got so may good reviews, maybe it is me. I think it could be an OK read if about half as long. It is filled with "he chuckled", "she smiled", on and on like filler. And in real life can you imagine someone laughing so hard the drop an occupied body bag? Just tedious and unrealistic. More irrelevant details than any two books need. But again, many reviewers enjoyed it so maybe I am spoiled by my favorite authors or it is just my taste in reading but I cannot recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling action/suspense story 8 Feb. 2013
By Chuck P. - Published on
I read a paperback version of this book that my friend lent me. Personally I'm not usually a huge fan of the who ex-military action/suspense stories. But I was traveling and staying at a friends house, while my daughter wanted the kindle to read her books. So I borrowed this. It far exceeded my expectations. Instead of putting it down quickly like I expected I would, it kept me up for a good part of the night to finish.

The author plotted the story well, and it kept moving at a brisk pace. Ryce Dalton is a well-developed character with enough tricks up his sleeve to put some serious obstacles in the way of the bad guys. The action scenes weren't over the top like some James Bond scenes are, but the suspense and action are well written. Most of the major plot twists I didn't see coming until the author revealed them, although I few I was able to puzzle out.

For someone who isn't a normal fan of the genre, I loved it. I'm not sure that it'll make me give the genre another look, but I'll definitely keep this author in mind in regards to his other books. Well worth it for anyone looking for a long afternoon read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grabbed Me and Held Me Captive! 7 Feb. 2013
By JMAuthor - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first book of Mr. Peters that I have read. I am typically not an "action" reader, but once in awhile a book comes along that grabs me, drags me in and holds me captive at my laptop/kindle and this is one of those books.

My first impression is WOW. The amount of detail that is shared is phenomenal. Not only can I envision the locations (cabin, woods, campsites, lakes, crime scenes, etc.) but I also know way more about weapons and strategic operations than I ever did before. It was like watching my favorite Crime television show, seeing the whole story unfold bit by bit with intensity and mystery.

The characters are wonderful. First, I feel like I know them all. They are one huge surrogate family. There is an actual family in the midst of it all, but from Ryce to O2 to Tanya and the entire Pendergast clan...amazing. Everyone works together in some manner and they truly can count on one another.

I won't go in to a summary, as there is one by the author and other reviewers have done a superb job of breaking down the story. What I will say is that if you enjoy Action, Police Procedurals, Thrillers, Suspense, Mystery and characters that have determination and passion to get to the truth and take "care" of the bad guys, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good military action book! 12 Feb. 2013

I enjoyed the book and the fast paced action. I'm a fan of Clive Cussler so this book was right up my alley! It's nice to know this is the first in series as you get attached to memorable characters in this action packed book. It you are into military novels you will enjoy the story and the action. It shows the author did his research.
I love well written action stories and this one did not disappoint me!
