From the Label

One of Scotland's longest established folk groups.

Formed during the great surge of interest in traditional and Celtic music and song in the late 1960s, The Whistlebinkies evolved into a leading force in their field. They led the revival in the use of the bellows-blown bagpipes in Scotland and were among the first to combine the three national instruments (fiddle, bagpipe and clarsach) in regular performance.

Their repertoire is drawn from all periods of Scottish music and from all regions of the country.

Great Scottish CD 16 Aug 2008
By Scott Andrews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
A new/old lineup for the Whistlebinkies. The change is in their harp/singer. I must admit I prefered their previous singer-but this CD has only one song. If you are looking for a great Scottish recording played with traditional Scottish instumentation, put this on your short list. There are some non-Scottish influences, but not to distraction. It also features a tune by the late Tony Cuffe. Tony's contribution to the tradition will be heard in sessions for many generations. The Whistlebinkies play with a great mastery of their instruments, and are a pure pleasure to listen to over and over. I have lots of other CDs from other groups, but my Whistlebinkies never grow old.

Nice but too expensive 7 Oct 2008
By Bruce C. Douglas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This disc is mostly music for dancing. As the other reviewer said, there is only one song, and this singer does not have the clarity or youthfulness of the singer on "Timber Tambre" or "Wanton Fling." The performances are fine, but lack the lovely and lyrical quality of TT and WF. If the cost were $10-$15, I would give it another star.
