I have been playing acoustic fingerstyle for some time, and classical guitar for many years, but I've got the worst nails for it. No sooner than I get them the length that i like (which isn't all that long) then I'll do something which causes one to split, usually down to the quick so that it takes weeks for it to grow back again. I've tried nail hardeners and repair kits but nothing really worked for me and I can't get on with the usual finger picks (the curved ones). Anyway I gave these a try and, although they take a bit of getting used to, I find that I can play quite well with them. I still prefer to use my nails when possible because I can feel the string contact better but, but, because these ones fit under the nail, I can feel the strings better. As long as there is a remnant of nail left for the picks to fit under they are secure.

I didn't hold out much hope for this product, so only ordered one. In fact it is excellent. The secret is its ability to hook behind the remnant of the broken nail to form a firm but flexible 'nail' to pick with. You can sand it down to match the length of the other nails, or to your ideal length. I immediately ordered two more and now don't have to suffer the paranoia surrounding nail care. Obviously they aren't as sensitive as a natural nail, but they provide a great solution to a broken nail.

I tried and tried the old style finger picks but could never get on with them. At last! These are a much better idea; they mimic having longer finger nails but are much more substantial. They mange to stay on the fingers well, too. You may have read this elsewhere, but your real finger nails really do need to be long enough to clip into the pick. Recommended!
