"Alan Wake" is a psychological action thriller set in Bright Falls, an idyllic small town in the Pacific Northwest. It is the story of Alan Wake, a bestselling crime/horror novelist suffering from writers block. At the suggestion of his wife and muse, Alice, he ventures to Bright Falls to recover his creative flow. Soon after they arrive, however, Alice goes missing under mysterious circumstances. Wake begins searching, and discovers pages of a manuscript he seems to have written, though he has no memory of it. It describes the strange events that are occurring around him, and he soon believes that a dark force is at work. A dark presence has woken up in the depths of Cauldron Lake. It is growing stronger and reaching out, taking over and controlling people and animals with malevolent and aggressive intent. Whatever it possesses turns dark, blurry, and harder to see clearly, as if it was hidden in a pool of deeper darkness, or cloaked in clinging shadows, or shrouded by dark smoke, or covered by a film of inky water. Only strong light seems to push this dark possessing presence away and allows Wake to fight the enemies hurting him.

basicly a literary version of the game, good pacing, good product knowledge, captures the role of wake nicely. its slightly too short for my liking because it couldve gone into much more detail historically about the town and other characters histories and idiosyncrasies,which the game could not, which would have added to the atmosphere and pain that u would feel when these ones are converted into Taken (rusty for example)
if u havnt bought the collectors edition copy of the game, then buy it because it will go along nicely in adding to aspects and depth to the game and book that otherwise would go missing and u might feel lost in some areas. (i have alan wake products to sell also)
im a big fan of this new IP and hence would recommend it to anyone.

I was so enthralled by the story line of the game Alan Wake, I started reading this with an open mind thinking it would be a similarly enjoyable experience. I was very wrong. This is an extremely poorly written novel. A 12 year-old could have written it. Very simple; identical to the narration in the game. Save your money and play through Alan Wake on Xbox again, a children's book at most.

pretty good
Quite well written and enjoyable as a story, as well as shedding light on many parts of the game that I weren't able to understand.
