The DVD, a companion piece to 2005's "Cosmopolitan Life" album - is in two parts, a "portrait" of the partnership with footage from live shows, TV appearances and video clips from across the world, and highlights of a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival which also includes Di Meola playing solo.

On the face of it they seem like an odd couple - the American jazz virtuoso guitarist and erstwhile prog prodigy, and the hairy bear of a Russian rock star.

As an exercise in radio-friendly fusion it works surprisingly well. Oddly enough, their common ground turns out to be easy-listening Latin - Di Meola's wild cascades of notes decorating the dance grooves while the gruff-voiced singer keeps the melodies going. This kind of commercial reinvention worked for Carlos Santana - and it works here, as long as you're not looking for the groundbreaking strides of Al Di Meola's old band Return For Forever.
