and it's a big but: this dictionary is written for speakers of Arabic. What I'd really like is one that's just as comprehensive but written for native English speakers since what I need is not a definition in Arabic but a translation of the word or expression. It contains a lot of words I shall never need in a month of Sundays, e.g. karyosome, pandowdy and sympodial, but not ones I may need, such as swallow-hole and gross domestic product (which is not the same as gross national product). And why oh why oh why was not a sans-serif font used for the English? It would have been much easier to read.
Despite those caveats it is well worth having.
